Job Title: Day Lead Location: Zionsville Community School Corporation; Zionsville, Indiana Employer: Marquis Commercial Solutions Position Type: Full-Time; Hourly, Non-exempt Starting Pay: $18/hour Shift: Monday through Friday; 6:00AM - 2:30PM or 7:00AM - 3:30PM Reports To: General ManagerAs the Day Lead Custodian, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment at Trailside Elementary. Your leadership and attention to detail will ensure the school is prepared for daily activities and special events as needed. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the school building, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and other common areas. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of students, staff, and visitors. Employees will be moved to different school buildings during training, and by 90 days of employment, the employee should be assigned a school. The employee may still be moved to different schools after training due to business needs and during summer clean.Key Responsibilities:Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors in classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and common areasDust and wipe down furniture, windowsills, light fixtures, and other surfacesClean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and replenishing supplies (toilet paper, soap, etc.)Empty trash cans around the school and dispose of waste in a safe and proper mannerClean and disinfect high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches, and handrailsMaintain cleanliness of entrance and exit areas, including sweeping walkways and removing debrisAssist in cleaning windows, walls, and floors as neededEnsure cleaning supplies and chemicals are used in accordance with safety guidelines and company policiesReport any maintenance or safety issues to the General ManagerFollow all health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)Ensure the school is kept safe from hazards such as slippery floors or blocked exit routesMonitor and report supply levels to ensure adequate stock of cleaning products, paper goods, and equipmentRestock supplies in restrooms, classrooms, and common areasMaintain cleanliness and organization of custodial storage areasAny other task requested by your supervisor or managementDay Lead Tasks:Conduct an inspection at the start of your shift to identify immediate cleaning needs and address any missed tasks from the night crewLead snow and ice removal efforts to ensure safe walkways for students, staff, and visitorsWash and maintain the buildings cleaning materials, including rags and mop heads, to support ongoing cleanlinessMonitor and replenish supplies for the Night Crew, ensuring they have the necessary materials to complete their tasks efficientlyCommunicate needs for events with the Night Lead for specific event set ups and cleaning needsAssist ZCS Managers and ZCS staff with any additional tasks requested and within our work scopeSpecial Cleaning Tasks:Deep clean carpets and upholstery as needed or as per the schools cleaning scheduleAssist with periodic floor waxing and buffingPerform seasonal cleaning tasks, including removing snow or debris around entrances or playgrounds (if applicable)Assist with event setups, cleanups, and post-event sanitization as requestedQualifications:Experience: Previous custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not required Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team Skills: English is required Ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks Strong attention to detail and cleanliness Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods Ability to work in a variety of environments, including indoors and outdoors (weather permitting) Capable of using cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and floor scrubbers Other Requirements: Reliable transportation to and from the job site Ability to pass a background check and drug screening (if required by the client) Must be punctual, dependable, and maintain a positive attitude. Working Conditions:Schedule: This position requires flexibility to align with the schools operating hours. While exact work hours may vary based on the schools schedule and specific needs, you must be available to adjust to a morning shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) during the school vacation periods. These include one week for spring break, two months for summer break, one week for fall break, and two weeks for winter break.Environment: The role involves cleaning various areas within the school building, including classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areas. Some outdoor work may be required.Uniform: Company shirts and any required PPE (personal protective equipment) will be provided.
