Locums - Charlotte, North Carolina NP/PA Medical Oncology Opportunity Clinical Role Seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) specializing in oncology to provide inpatient care for patients with solid tumor malignancies. This role offers the opportunity to work within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment, supporting patients throughout their oncologic diagnosis and treatment, including early-phase clinical trials. Start Date: June 29, 2026 Contract Length: Ongoing (based on facility need)FTE: Full-Time (40 hours per week)Setting: Inpatient Position Highlights Inpatient solid tumor oncology focus Day shift schedule with no night responsibilities Four 10-hour shifts per week, including weekends Holiday rotation required Opportunity to work with early-phase clinical trial patients Collaborative multidisciplinary oncology team Patient-centered environment within a nationally recognized cancer program Schedule & Coverage Shift Type: Day Shift No Call Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week Weekend Requirement: Includes Saturday and Sunday coverage Holiday Rotation: Required Night Shifts: None Clinical Details & Responsibilities Setting: Inpatient Oncology Patient Population: Adult patients with solid tumor malignancies Responsibilities Include: Performing initial and ongoing medical histories and physical examinations Conducting daily patient assessments and developing treatment plans Evaluating and managing oncologic disorders, including complications of malignancy and treatment Ordering and interpreting laboratory and radiologic studies Writing prescriptions and coordinating care with the multidisciplinary team Documenting all patient encounters in the electronic medical record Providing chemotherapy education in collaboration with pharmacy Participating in goals-of-care discussions and advocating for patients Supporting patients enrolled in early-phase clinical trials Support & Technology Care Model: Multidisciplinary collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and support staffEMR: Epic Requirements Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program - Required NP: Acute Care certification (AGACNP or ACNP) - Required PA: NCCPA certification - Preferred (CAQ certification preferred) Active North Carolina license - Required BLS Required Prescriptive authority and DEA registration - Required BLS certification through the American Heart Association - Required Minimum of 1 year of oncology or relevant acute care experience - Required Strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills - Required Essential Functions Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop coordinated care plans Document evaluations, interventions, and treatment plans in the medical record Order and interpret diagnostic studies Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis and treatment Participate in multidisciplinary care planning and goals-of-care discussions Advocate for patients throughout the continuum of care Physical Requirements Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, push, and pull throughout the workday Capability to lift and support up to 35 pounds when handling patients or equipment Must possess intact sensory and motor skills, including sight, hearing, touch, and finger dexterity Ability to perform effectively in high-stress, fast-paced clinical environments Fluent English communication skills required About Charlotte, North Carolina Location & Access: Charlotte is a vibrant metropolitan city in the southeastern United States with a major international airport and excellent transportation infrastructure.Lifestyle & Community: Offers a blend of urban sophistication and southern charm, with diverse neighborhoods and a strong sense of community.Attractions: Professional sports teams, a thriving culinary scene, museums, and proximity to both the Blue Ridge Mountains and Atlantic beaches.Quality of Life: Affordable cost of living, excellent schools, and abundant recreational opportunities make Charlotte an attractive destination for healthcare professionals.
