QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification * High School Diploma or GED Special Knowledge/Skills: * Possess positive attitude toward people and professional situations and is able to resolve student problems. * Exceptional communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills * Ability to deal with special need students * Must be able to communicate effectively in speaking, reading, and writing in English * Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus Preferred Experience: * None Major Responsibilities and Duties * Responsible for general welfare of student's safety. * Assists pupils on and off the bus * Controls behaving of pupils on the bus and reports discipline problems as instructed by the supervisor. * Supervises the use of seat belts on the bus * Works with the driver to ensure good relations with parents, school officials and related parties. * Operates a wheelchair lift and wheelchair tie downs * Knowledge of routes in order to assist a substitute driver * Attends required staff developments * Handles special children in a professional manner * Demonstrates leadership with proper attendance and punctuality * Follows the chain of command as noted in organizational policy * Uses time wisely to ensure productivity and efficiency.
