Our client has been in business since 1944 and have a large labor force of skilled craftsman with a full support staff of professionals who comprise of engineering, project management, QA, EHS, accounting, contracts, and human resources. Job Summary The Ship Superintendent supports the planning, coordination, and execution of ship repair work items, working closely with internal teams, subcontractors, OEM representatives, and customers to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within scope. This role requires the ability to interpret ship repair specifications and drawings, assist with labor cost estimating, and operate effectively in an industrial maritime environment while maintaining strong communication and teamwork skills. Job Description Manage, plan, and coordinate ship repair work items as part of the Project Team Coordinate with other departments (QA, safety, production), subcontractors, OEM technical reps, and customers throughout the repair Be capable of reading and understanding ship repair specification, drawings, schematics Assist with labor cost estimating Be comfortable in an industrial, maritime environment Be a good communicator and a team player Skills Required PMP certification desirable Knowledge and understanding federal contracts is helpful Knowledge of shipboard lockout and tag out procedures Previous experience or training in work sequencing and scheduling Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer skills Education/Training/Certifications Engineering degree or related or equivalent work experience is desirable Additional Requirements Must show proof of legal right to work in the United States and US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Must be able to obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and background check before employment begins.
