Enforces rules and regulations of the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut DEEP and other agencies governing the use of dock and harbor facilities, and performs custodial and semi-skilled maintenance/repair work in the building and facilities. Position reports to the Operations Manager, Boats and Harbors. This is a seasonal position. Qualifications1. Graduation from high school plus two years of experience in maintenance, handling, storage and mooring of vessels and related marine facilities and equipment.2. An equivalent combination of education and experience to #1 above. SPECIAL NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to pass a swim testJob DescriptionRegulates the operation and use of the boat house locker rooms; rack storage, trailer storage and winter storage for all types of boats. This includes monitoring dock space utilization and the wait list applications in a fair manner and maintaining and reconciling receipts and records for summer and winter storage; slip, and rack assignments. Ability to interact with Parks & Recreation office staff via computer, phone and written correspondence and interact with the general public with courtesy and tactfulness. Monitors facility use by resident and non resident public and transient traffic at the docks, tracks ownership of unknown vessel drop offs, secures vessels for non-payment of charges and ensures safe storage of vessels. Cleans and cares for the boathouse and restrooms and grounds surrounding the building. Daily inspects and makes minor repairs to the floats, pontoons and docks within the facility. Assists in launching, hauling, and storing pontoons and floats; maintains and repairs floats, docks, and pontoons and maintains and repairs related equipment under the control of the Marine & Facility Operations Division. With supervision from the Operations Manager sets up and coordinates the Towns fall pressure washing program. Performs related work as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of hauling and storage of boats, floating equipment, etc. Skilled in methods of handling and proper storage of boats. Ability to understand and enforce safety and environmental regulations and Town regulations governing use of the dock and harbor. Ability to deal politely and tactfully with the public in enforcing rules and regulations. Ability to perform various semi-skilled repair tasks. Ability to work independently and to understand and carry out general instructions and policies. Ability to perform the physically demanding functions of the position including boarding and debarking vessels, docks, floats, as well as lifting heavy objects, bending and kneeling for periods of time. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions. Ability to swim.
