Position Type: Support Staff/Bus Mechanic Date Posted: 12/10/2025 Location: Girard City Schools Closing Date: Until Filled   Additional Information: Show/Hide POSITION: * Chief Bus Mechanic/Bus Driver QUALIFICATIONS: * Thorough knowledge of and experience as a mechanic * Proficiency in repair and maintenance of buses, trucks & maintenance equipment * Basic knowledge in body repair, welding and fabricating * Able to maintain records of all maintenance and work repair * Able to maintain high standards of safety and good housekeeping * Able to serve as a bus driver when needed * Able to respond to transportation related emergencies * Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications in relevant areas (e.g., brakes, diesel engines, electrical/electronic systems, compressed natural gas, school bus conversion equipment) preferred. * Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to school bus operation, vehicle emissions, inspections, and driver qualifications under all OAC 3301.83 codes. * Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including OSHA, DOT, and EPA standards. * Must hold Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or higher, with School Bus (S), Passenger (P), and Air Brake endorsements. * Must hold or be able to obtain Ohio School Bus Operator Certification via pre-service training and in-service requirements under OAC 3301-83.10. * Must hold a current and complete physical * Must hold current successful BCI & FBI background checks * Must be willing to carry out the duties of the job description * Successful Drug Screen * Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or Superintendent JOB DESCRIPTION: * Chief Bus Mechanic/Bus Driver Job Description LOCATION: * Girard City School District/Bus Garage SALARY: * Per negotiated agreement DATE OF VACANCY: * 2025-2026 school year POSTING DEADLINE: * Until filled APPLICATION PROCESS: * Please submit a letter of interest, resume and three (3) references to jobs@ * Include Chief Bus Mechanic/Bus Driver in the subject line.
