General Statement of Duties / Distinguishing Features of the Class Bring your leadership, expertise, and passion for community recreation to a role that ensures our public swimming facilities remain safe, welcoming, and well-managed. This position requires strong knowledge of pool operations, including water quality, sanitation, supervision, and safety practices. You'll also oversee financial processes and maintain accurate records that support the success of our recreational programs In this role, you'll serve as a key responder during emergencies, using your understanding of local emergency and auxiliary services to act quickly and effectively. You'll guide, train, and evaluate staff while fostering a positive, collaborative environment and consistently enforcing facility regulations. Your ability to work harmoniously with employees, patrons, and the public-along with experience in concessions operations-will help create an enjoyable, customer-friendly experience for all who visit our facilities. Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only) * Assists the Aquatics Manager/Laborer in facility maintenance and operations, including but not limited to, lighting, filtration, purification, and overall safety of the facility. * Oversees employee scheduling for inside staff and spotters to ensure that staffing levels are appropriate. * Supervises, schedules, and evaluates summer personnel. * Works with Parks and Recreations staff and Aquatics Manager to develop, promote and supervise a diverse aquatic program for all ages in accordance with community needs. * Plans, directs, and supervises staff to follow all rules and regulations of the City-County of Butte-Silver Bow. * Interacts with customers and co-workers in a pleasant and professional manner. * Oversees the operations of concession stand, and punch pass sales. * Ability to perform day end accounting procedures and bank deposits. * Knowledgeable in Point - of Sale systems and their functions. * Other related duties or assignments as directed by the Aquatics Manager and the BSB Parks and Recreation Director. * Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, motivate, and supervise summer hires. * Ability to independently solve problems within assigned areas of responsibility. * Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations. * Utilization of proper judgement in accordance with the City- County of Butte - Silver Bow policies and procedures when disseminating information to other employees or the general public. Required Experience, Training, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * A minimum of two (2) years' experience in operation and management of a family aquatic center, pool complex, water park or a related facility. * Ability to follow directions and effectively perform the work. * Positive attitude, dependable and neat in appearance. * Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn operating procedures for POS system. * Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekend work. * Be lifeguard trained or lifeguard certified or willing to become one upon employment. * Experience working with teens and young people. Required Special Qualifications * Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Montana. * Must be a resident of the City and County of Butte-Silver Bow during employment according to ordinance: "2.08.010. Residence during employment. From and after October 1, 1979, all employees of the local government of Butte-Silver Bow shall be bona fide residents within the boundaries of Butte-Silver Bow during the period of their employment by the government of Butte-Silver Bow. (Ord. 85 § 1, 1979)". * Ability to pass a background check. * Performs all duties and work assignments in a safe, healthy and environmentally sound manner. Specifically, complying with the Health and Safety Program; maintaining work areas in a safe and orderly manner; identifying and reporting unsafe conditions; reporting all accidents; wearing required personal protective equipment and attending safety-related meetings, training sessions, fit testing, etc. * Performs all duties and work assignments in compliance with project quality requirements. * Acts responsibly and ethically, and in conformance with generally accepted business, occupational and professional standards. * Performs related work as required.
