Description of Position: The Ole' Ruff (Roughrider) mascot is the caricaturized embodiment of Yavapai College, it's history, mission, goals and values. The student(s) wearing the costume and portraying the mascot on behalf of the college has an important marketing and public performance/engagement role as follows: Represents YC and engages positively with and entertains people of all ages during college and community events Engages positively with and entertains players and fans at YC athletics contests Has a starring role in social media and other digital marketing and communications content created and produced by the college's content-creation team within the marketing department. Minimally assisting with a variety of office-related tasks This position will require travel to off campus events Minimum Expectations & Requirements: All hiring documents must be completed prior to first work shift, including acceptable documentation for the I-9 Form. * Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits during the fall and spring semesters, 3 credits during summer semester * Work with a diverse student population * Exhibit patience and a positive attitude while on duty in college and community settings. * Demonstrate reliability and good customer service skills * Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills * Demonstrate time management and organizational skills * Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner * Adhere to the code of confidentiality in certain cases where discretion should be used * Adhere to Yavapai College Code of Conduct as well as FERPA guidelines Desired skills/characteristics: initiative, responsiveness, dependability, congeniality, enthusiasm, discipline and willingness to grow both personally and professionally. It is understood that the mascot's schedule is not fixed. Rather, it will be developed in coordination with the marketing content-creation team as requests for mascot appearances are submitted and as the employee's school and family schedule allow. The start date, to occur no sooner than July 1st of the current aid year, of this position will be determined by the hiring supervisor after an applicant is hired. This position has a standard end of assignment date of June 30th of the current aid year. Assignment may end sooner or be extended depending FWS eligibility, availability and/or department need.
