Position Summary: Position Summary Performs Flight Coordination activities including processing of calls for helicopter transport, telecommunications, information management and flight following. Coordinates and helps facilitate patient acceptance into the University of Tennessee Medical Center, working in concert with the Patient Placement Center. Performs the functions of the Regional Medical Communication Center as designated. Core Behaviors Dependability, Attendance and Punctuality. a. Unscheduled absences and tardiness must be minimal. b. Service Demonstrates/Presents professional public relations image. a. Maintains and presents a positive program image for internal and external customers, patient families, and visitors. b. Conducts public affairs activities under coordination of Outreach Coordinator, Regional Operations Manager, and/orProgram Director. c. Maintains appropriate professional demeanor with program staff members, internal, and external customers with nojustified complaints. d. Develops and maintains professional associations and relationships with referring agencies and facilities. Efficiency and Effectiveness Conducts specialty assignments and projects as assigned by Communication Supervisor, Regional OperationsManager or Program Director. a. Accepts assignments and proceeds with minimal assistance. b. Assignments are completed within established timeframes. Functions as Aeromedical Communications Specialist. a. Processes mission requests for on- scene, inter facility, and specialty requests. Allocates resources appropriately peroperational policies and procedures, and/or at the direction of the Program Director, Communications Supervisor. b. Accurately completes Communication Center records and logs, both electronic and paper. c. Communicates pertinent operational information to crew members, program supervision, internal/external customersor other approved parties. d. Utilizes and interprets accurately navigation information e. Performs the function of the Regional Medical Communication Center as designated. f. Assists in the processing of Acceptance Protocol transfers. g. Completes daily activities of Communication Center per policy. h. Appropriate utilization of PAIP and other staff notification protocols and procedures. i. Coordinates/facilitates patient acceptance into UTMC in conjunction with the Patient Placement Center. j. Perform other duties as assigned by the Communication Center Supervisor, Regional Operations Manager and tofollow chain of command. Quality and Safety Participates in professional development and educational activities. a. Meets or exceeds basic employee training requirements of LIFESTAR and UTMC. b. Attends 80% of scheduled staff meetings. Completes mandatory training within prescribed time periods. c. Attends/completes approved professional development programs. Documents activities for program review. d. Writes, edits and presents articles, programs or presentations for use by internal and external customers. e. Documents educational and clinical activities for supervisory review. f. Serves on community, program, or medical center boards and/or committees as requested. g. Participates in on-call schedule at discretion of Program Director and/or his designee. Position Qualification: Education Degree / Diploma Type Program Required/Preferred (and/or) Associates Graduate of EMT or Paramedic Program Preferred Required Experience Years ofExperience Type of Experience Required/Preferred (and/or) 3 years Required Three years experience in Air Medical Communications or 911/EMS Dispatch OR Three years experience (recent) patient care in a 911 EMS system Years of Experience can be related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education andexperience. Licensure, Certification, Registration Basic Life Support Driver's License Valid TN Driver's License EMT IV or Paramedic Tennessee EMT IV or Tennessee Paramedic licensure (National Registry preferred) Tennessee EMT-IV licensure (National Registry EMT preferred), ITLS/PHTLS certification NAACS Certification preferred, but not required, EMD Certification preferred, but not required
