Position OverviewA rapidly growing transportation and logistics organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting function and oversee end-to-end financial operations. This role is responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting, strong internal controls, cash management, budgeting, and compliance. The Controller will partner with executive leadership to provide financial insight, support strategic decision-making, and drive improvements across systems and processes. This position also oversees the accounting team, manages audits, and ensures adherence to GAAP and applicable reporting frameworks.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Close, Reporting and ControlsOwn month-end and year-end close processesPrepare consolidated financial statements under GAAP/IFRSMaintain internal controls, accounting policies, and proceduresEnsure accuracy of accounting transactionsCoordinate external audits and required schedulesEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local reportingMonitor debt levels and covenant complianceAccounting OperationsOversee accounting team structure, staffing, and performanceManage outsourced accounting functionsOversee subsidiary accounting operations and controlsDirect general ledger, reconciliations, and account analysisManage AP, AR, billing, and cash applicationOversee payroll coordination and tax reportingAdminister fixed assets and depreciation schedulesMaintain cost reports and operational metricsFinancial Planning and AnalysisLead budgeting and forecastingPrepare variance analysis and performance insightsRecommend benchmarks and KPIsProduce financial and operating metricsSupport capital investment, pricing, and contract analysisTreasury and Cash ManagementManage cash flow forecasting and treasury operationsMaintain banking relationshipsOversee bank reconciliations and intercompany accountingSupport risk management and financial safeguardsSystems and Process ImprovementImplement and optimize ERP and financial systemsLead system upgrades and automation initiativesDrive process improvements for accuracy and efficiencyMaintain controls and budget frameworksLeadership and CommunicationDevelop and mentor accounting staffPresent financial reports to senior leadershipCollaborate cross-functionally to support operationsPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred8+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilityStrong GAAP knowledge; IFRS familiarity preferredExperience with month-end close and financial reportingAudit coordination experienceStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelingFamiliarity with AP, AR, billing, payroll, fixed assets, and cost accountingCash management and treasury experienceERP systems proficiency; strong Excel skillsStrong communication and presentation abilitiesAbility to operate in a fast-paced environmentAbility to pass background, MVR, and drug screeningBenefitsHighly Competitive Compensation Package ($150-180k)PTO, Holiday, Sick PayHealthcare CoverageMedical, Dental, Vision401kOpportunities for career advancement
