This will be at our Astria Toppenish Hospital in the Behavioral Health Unit. Shift: 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - FridayWhat you get to do every day!As the Mental Health Technician, you will be responsible for facilitating therapeutic activities and interventions designed to enhance the mental and emotional well-being of our patients. You will:Develop and implement therapeutic activity programs that promote socialization, emotional expression, and cognitive stimulation for patients.Conduct assessments of patients' interests, strengths, and therapeutic needs to inform the development of individualized treatment plans.Plan and organize group activities, recreational outings, expressive arts sessions, and other therapeutic interventions to address patients' clinical goals and objectives.Lead therapeutic groups and activities, providing guidance, support, and encouragement to facilitate positive interactions and skill development among patients.Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other clinicians, to coordinate care and ensure a holistic approach to treatment.Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient progress, participation in activities, and response to interventions in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.Monitor patient behavior and emotional responses during activities, intervening as needed to ensure a safe and supportive therapeutic environment.The person in this position must be able to participate in policy approved physical and mechanical restraint as trained with potentially dysregulated and/or combative patients and maintain personal, patient and staff safety without physical restrictions.Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and clinical supervision sessions to discuss patient progress, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding the role of therapeutic activities in the treatment process and strategies for ongoing engagement in leisure pursuits post-discharge.Collaborate effectively across organizational boundaries.Adheres to the core values and standards of the organizationPerforms other duties as assignedRequirementsBachelor's degree in recreational therapy, art therapy, music therapy, or a related field OR a combination of school and a minimum of two years in a similar role in behavioral healthRecreational Therapy Registration- DOHWashington State Food Handler's CardMust maintain current BLS certificationOral and written fluency in the English language This position is identified as a safety-sensitive position for which impairment while on the job would present a substantial risk of death.
