Job Description

Position PurposeThis incumbent provides high quality Nuclear Medicine data to the interpreting physician. This isaccomplished in accordance with departmental procedures and the appropriate State and Federalregulations.Nature and ScopeThe incumbent provides Nuclear Medicine Services to patients of Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent,Adult, and Geriatric age groups. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to work with patient'sphysical, motor/sensory adaptation, cognitive, and psychosocial needs specific to the population beingserved, and meets standards of quality as measured by the Unit/Department competency with specialpopulation's standards.This position requires contact with physicians and nursing personnel in order to discuss patientscheduling, patient preps, and to determine the appropriate exam to be ordered. Occasionally, in theabsence of the Supervisor, the incumbent must contact vendors to order radiopharmaceuticals or toarrange for repairs. The incumbent works with state-of-the-art scintillation cameras, computers, andother support equipment necessary to produce high quality, contemporary Nuclear Medicinestudies. The incumbent must perform minor clerical duties and may be requested to work overtimeand perform other duties as needed. Participation in the call schedule will be at the discretion of theSupervisor during times of short staffing only. This position is challenged to communicate withphysicians and nursing personnel, to make accurate decisions regarding the appropriate examnecessary for the patient, and to obtain high quality data for the interpreting physician.
