This role partners closely with pharmacy operations, quality, regulatory, and leadership teams to design safe, compliant, and scalable formulations that meet clinical, business, and regulatory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesFormulation & Product DevelopmentDesign, develop, and optimize new and existing pharmaceutical formulations (sterile and/or non-sterile)Conduct formulation trials, stability studies, compatibility testing, and feasibility assessmentsSelect appropriate APIs, excipients, delivery systems, and packaging componentsTroubleshoot formulation, process, or stability challenges and recommend improvementsResearch & TestingResearch and identify potential future product opportunitiesDesign and execute bench-scale and pilot-scale experimentsAnalyze and interpret data from formulation and stability studiesMaintain thorough documentation of experiments, results, and conclusionsStay current with scientific literature, compounding trends, and emerging technologiesRegulatory & ComplianceEnsure all R&D activities comply with USP , , , FDA guidance, and applicable state regulationsDevelop and review SOPs, master formulation records (MFRs), and validation documentationSupport regulatory submissions, internal audits, and inspections as neededCross-Functional CollaborationCollaborate with operations to transfer formulations into productionPartner with Quality Assurance on investigations, deviations, and CAPAs related to formulationsProvide technical guidance and training to pharmacists and techniciansSupport clinical, sales, or customer-facing teams with product knowledge when neededContinuous Improvement & InnovationIdentify opportunities to improve product quality, efficiency, and scalabilityEvaluating new ingredients, technologies, and equipmentParticipate in strategic planning for product pipelines and innovation initiativesWhat We Require Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required2-3 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, compounding pharmacy, or formulation development preferredWorking knowledge of USP , , and Demonstrated expertise in formulation development, stability testing, formulation troubleshooting, and analytical methodsPreferredBoard Certification in Sterile Compounding (BCSCP) or equivalent preferredExperience with peptides, hormones, injectables, or complex dosage formsHands-on experience with sterile and/or non-sterile compounding strongly preferredBenefitsFull benefits package including medical, vision, dental, 401(k) with company match, PTO, Flex days, holidays, and more!Southend Pharmacy is unable to offer visa sponsorship at this time.
