CHS is also a pivotal partner in New York City's criminal justice reform efforts.Work ShiftsTime: 8a-4pDays: Saturday & SundayFacility: Various facilities on Rikers IslandDuties & ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities:Serve as the lead mental health clinical supervisor for the assigned areas of responsibility.Ensure adequate training and provide regular individual and in-person supervision for permanent weekend staff.For assigned facilities:Review, conference as needed, and sign-off on CTP/TPR's as already scheduled by the facility Unit ChiefReview, conference, and co-sign MO/PACE Mental Health RoundsReview and co-sign 10-Day Suicide Watch (SW) Observation NotesReview and sign Mental Health IntakesReview and sign other documentation as requiredComplete direct clinical care as neededCoordinate with CHS Operations and facility MHCs to manage urgent mental health issues, including facilitating escalation of care as appropriate.Coordinate continuity of care with hospitals who are admitting CHS patients or recently released patients, including review of active civil commitment evaluation request documentation for patients being discharged to the community by the court/DOC.Meet intermittently with assigned clinical supervisor (Clinical Director or Deputy Director or their designee) to review responsibilities as outlined above, for clinical supervision and to provide input into program design, clinical operations, and policy formation. Other clinical duties as assigned by the Clinical Director, Deputy Clinical Director, Chief of Mental Health, or their designees.Administrative Responsibilities: Personnel management of Mental Health clinical staff in collaboration with CHS Operations and the Director of Mental Health Administration, including:Monitor Mental Health staffing assignments for both the 8a-4p and 4p-12a work shifts as assigned by the Unit Chief, Operations, Psychiatric Supervisor, or Administrative Clinical Supervisor.Review staff call out logs and collaborate with CHS Operations to manage cross coverage/float coverage needed.Monitor time and attendance of weekend Mental Health staff. Supervise staff assigned to work weekends, including implementing corrective action when needed. Ensure staff correctly adhere to established protocols and procedures.Assist staff as needed to ensure appropriate completion of TNFs and Civil Commitment evaluation request documentation, including distributing to appropriate DOC personnel.Assist with documentation, review, and reporting of incidents involving Mental Health staff. Manage mental health referrals: Check Referral Hub for each assigned area/building and follow-up on/assign any pending STAT/Priority Mental Health referrals.Review other sources of referrals (e.g., email, DOC referrals, etc.), ensure external referrals are documented in medical record, and schedule/reassign to appropriate providers accordingly.Manage daily Mental Health Rounds procedures including:Assign staff to complete Mental Health Rounds on Tour 2 across assigned areasConference Mental Health Rounds and follow-up as needed, co-signing all Mental Health Rounds and logging them accordingly.Manage suicide watch procedures including:On both the 8a-4p and 4p-12a tours, review the SW TNF Automated report and update the facility list as neededAssign all suicide watches on designated units, sending out the assignments via the Suicide Watch List to the facility distribution/staff assigned, noting patients on a 10-day increment for SW Observation entryConference patients on a 10-day increment and co-sign those notes.Ensure staff adherence to all CHS policies and procedures.Meet intermittently with assigned administrative supervisor (Mental Health Administrative Director or Deputy Director or their designee) for administrative supervision and provide input into weekend administrative procedures and operations.Other duties as assigned by the Administrative Director of Mental Health, Chief of Mental Health, or their designees.Minimum Qualifications1. Possession of a valid license and current registration to practice in a mental health discipline issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED); and2. Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a health care setting or regulatory agency administration, with an emphasis on development and evaluation of mental health delivery services; one (1) year of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity.Department PreferencesExcellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines, including DOC staffStrong organizational skills, including working knowledge of database and spreadsheet design and maintenance.Excellent leadership skills including the ability to identify staff needs and provide mentorship and education to suit those needsStrong diagnostic assessment and treatment skillsStrong supervisory skillsAt least 5 years of experience with clinical administrative workQualification Preferences Cont.:EducationLMHC, LMSW, LCSW, Ph.D. or Psy.D in PsychologyNew York State license in good standingPh.D. or Psy.D. applicants without a license will also be considered assuming all doctoral requirements including internship and dissertation have been successfully completed.
