FYI operates programs at four sites in Washington Heights and Inwood where 1,300 children in grades Pre-K to 12 participate in afterschool, weekend, and summer programs annually. Using a positive youth development model, FYI provides holistic, culturally responsive programming, including educational, social-emotional, service-learning, college and career access, and mental health services to youth as well as mental health and social services support to their families through an anti-oppression lens. Job Description: The Utilization Review Specialist is responsible for quality assurance of client documentation, utilization management and quality clinical documentation monitoring. The UR Specialist develops clinical documentation regulations and guidelines in accordance with the New York State Office of Mental Health, justifies clinical services and ensures that all clinical practices for children and families receiving services through FYI are appropriately documented and recorded within a timely manner. The Utilization Review Specialist ensures that all clinical charts for documentations are up-to-date and in compliance with the New York State Office of Mental Health standards. This is a part-time position, approximately 5 hours per week to start, reporting to the Clinic Director. Duties and Responsibilities: * Reviews all intake assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, comprehensive assessments, trauma assessments, and medical documentation for each client enrolled in the clinic * Reviews all clinical files on children and families who have been discharged from the clinic to ensure their documentation is in accordance with the New York State Office of Mental Health and FYI objectives, and works with the clinical staff to assure high quality care with effective, efficient utilization of health services * Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams to ensure that services are authorized and clinically appropriate and reflected throughout the required filing and charting process * Bi-Weekly review of clinical charts onsite of wellness center * Provides reports and feedback to Clinic Director * Trains staff on documentation compliance * Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications & Required Skills: * Bachelor's Degree required (in Healthcare, Social Work, Psychology or related field) * Valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required. Applicant must be an LCSW. * Must have a minimum of one-year Post-Master's experience in an article 31 outpatient Mental Health Clinical Setting * Knowledge of National Council on Quality Assurance (NCQA), DSM-IV/V codes, psychotropic medications and behavioral medicine disease states * Bilingual preferred: strong English communication skills essential * Experience in child welfare, youth services or mental health * Advanced oral and written communication skills * Rigorous attention to detail within a customer-focused environment * Experience in treatment planning and review * Excellent clinical judgement with willingness and desire to work collaboratively with treatment team Timeline and Selection Process: Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis for an immediate start date.
