JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall administration and operations of the Joint Replacement Center. Job requires strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong leadership and critical reasoning skills in clinical decision-making, planning and organizing, initiative and ingenuity, creativity, independent decision-making, problem solving, and ability to interpret data. Positive relationship skills in working with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to the successful implementation of major projects and in accordance with established timelines. Public relations and promotion of positive morale are important. Ability to motivate and lead successfully. Some computer skills are necessary. QUALIFICATIONS: * At least five years of professional nursing experience in orthopedics, with demonstration of competent clinical judgment and leadership ability. * Three or more years of experience in orthopedic case management and certification in case management and /or orthopedic nursing practice is preferred. * Strong skills in the ability to work effectively with physicians and a multidisciplinary team toward achieving a common goal. * Demonstrated ability to implement a vision; problem solving; decision making; and establishing effective rapport with personnel, patients, families, physicians, and colleagues. * Documentation of continued professional growth through formal education courses and/or contact hours. * BSN or RN and unrestricted active license. MSN preferred. * Prefer Certification in Orthopedics and/or Certified Case Manager. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Able to speak clearly and distinctly with staff, physicians, patients, and other hospital employees. * Able to extensively utilize telephone, email, and written communication. * Demonstrates adequate stamina to deal with stressful situations and to complete the necessary work schedule. * Able to sit/stand/walk for extended periods of time throughout the work schedule with some lifting and bending. * Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, for reading current literature and preparing written documents. * Must be able to distinguish colors. * Fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination to operate business office machines. * Demonstrates adequate stamina to deal with stressful situations and complete work schedule. * Must have adequate perception of sounds or adequate hearing with corrections. * On-site position.
