Salary:$100,000 - $130,000 (negotiable) & Excellent BenefitsWorcester, MA Long Term Care & Rehabilitation - 75 Beds Director of Nursing (DON)Position OverviewThe Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and clinical oversight of the Nursing Department for our Worcester, MA location. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and operational efficiency within the facility.The DON works closely with the Executive Director and interdisciplinary teams to maintain excellence in patient outcomes, staff performance, and clinical standards.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Clinical Oversight Direct, supervise, and evaluate all nursing personnel and departmental operations Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with clinical standards and regulations Participate in direct patient care as needed, including emergency situations Serve as acting Executive Director in their absenceStaff Management & Development Lead hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management of nursing staff Provide ongoing coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action when necessary Conduct performance evaluations and oversee staff productivity and efficiency Ensure all staff meet continuing education and certification requirements (e.g., CNA CE hours)Operations & Administration Develop, implement, and enforce nursing policies and procedures Manage staffing models and make recommendations to leadership based on patient needs Oversee payroll, scheduling, overtime approval, and labor budget adherence Maintain personnel records, compliance documentation, and employee filesPatient Care & Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with physician orders, care plans, and regulatory requirements Oversee care planning processes including MDS, ADLs, assessments, and documentation Lead quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts Monitor patient outcomes and implement corrective actions as neededCompliance & Documentation Ensure accuracy and completion of all clinical records and medical documentation Oversee Medicare/Medicaid documentation, billing support, and coding accuracy (ICD) Manage audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting requirements Ensure compliance with state, federal, and corporate policiesInterdisciplinary Coordination Act as liaison between physicians, medical director, and nursing staff Collaborate with administration on admissions, discharges, and patient placement Coordinate with other departments to ensure comprehensive patient careResource & Supply Management Oversee procurement and inventory of medical supplies and equipment Ensure proper maintenance, storage, and availability of clinical resources Evaluate new products and technologies to improve patient careTraining & Education Develop and lead in-service training programs for nursing staff Ensure compliance with safety protocols, emergency procedures, and clinical best practices Promote continuous education and professional developmentQualificationsEducation Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standingExperience Minimum of 2+ years of nursing experience At least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership roleKnowledge & Skills Strong understanding of nursing practices, patient care standards, and healthcare regulations Knowledge of medical records systems and clinical documentation requirements Experience with staff supervision, training, and performance management Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Computer proficiency (EMR systems, reporting tools, etc.)
