Job BriefThe position assists with training, recruitment, training, internship coordinator, and participant support to ensure the success of program activities. The initiative is designed to prepare individuals with I/DD for careers in peer support and other rolesShift Worked: VariedWeekly Hours: 30FLSA Status: Non ExemptPay range: $25-$25THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION TO RUN FROM 2026-2029POSITION DUTIES:The Vocational Specialist supports the implementation and daily operations of the Together We Work Pilot Program, and initiative designed to prepare individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) for careers in peer support and direct support roles. This position assists with outreach, recruitment, training, internship coordination, and participant support to ensure the success of program activities. This position reports to the program coordinator.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Program Operations & Coordination:Assist the Program Coordinator with day-to-day operations of the programSupport the development and delivery of training sessions following established curriculum and agency guidelinesHelp create, organize and maintain program materials, documentation, and tracking toolsCoordinate with internal departments - including Training, Vocational, Finance and Program teams - to ensure seamless operationsOutreach, Promotion & RecruitmentConduct outreach to provider agencies, care managers, community stakeholders to promote the programParticipate in recruitment activities, information sessions, community events, and presentationsScreen potential participants and assist in the application and onboarding processTraining & Participant SupportProvide support during instructional sessions, workshops, and hands-on learning activitiesAssist participants in developing vocational skills and preparing for internship placementsOffer guidance, encouragement, and individualized support to participants throughout the programInternship CoordinationCollaborate with the Program Coordinator to identify and arrange internship opportunities for participantsMaintain communication with internship sites, monitor participant progress, and support successful placement outcomesCompliance & DocumentationFollow program curriculum, agency policies and procedures, and all regulatory guidelinesMaintain accurate documentation, attendance, progress notes, and records in accordance with agency standardsAll other related duties as assignedREQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferredMinimum 2 years' experience working in the I/DD fieldStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to travel throughout the five boroughs of New York CityProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace and digital documentation systemsAbility to work collaboratively with participants, families, and partner agenciesADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Commitment to person-centered practices and the empowerment of individuals with I/DDAbility to work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners
