Position: Computer Lab Paraprofessional Campus: Laird Elementary School Immediate Supervisor: Campus Principal Wage/Salary Status: nonexempt Pay Grade: Per Compensation Manual Days Employed: Per Compensation Manual POSITION SUMMARY: * Work independently in a computer lab setting * Assist with grades that will be recorded QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification: * GED/High School Diploma Educational Aide certificate Qualifications: * Completed at least 30 college hours; or * Met a rigorous standard of quality, demonstrated through a formal State or local academic assessment. Special Knowledge/Skills: * Knowledge of basic computer operations and skills * Ability to operate a personal computer and educational software * Ability to work with students and teachers effectively * Ability to communicate effectively Experience: * One year of experience working with children MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Support: * Assist teachers and students in the use of computers, printers, and instructional software * Work cooperatively with teachers to identify student placement in instructional software * Input data and maintain physical and computerized files on student progress and use of instructional programs * Maintain computer lab in a neat and orderly manner including bulletin boards and displays Technical Support: * Detect and arrange for maintenance and repair of computer equipment Student Management: * Manage student behavior in the computer lab * Help supervise students during arrival and dismissal from school * Assist with office and workroom clerical duties as needed * Maintain confidentiality * Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events as needed * Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor/administrator Equipment Used: * Computers, printers, overhead projectors, copier, tape recorders, headphones, telephones, laminators, calculator Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: * Maintain emotional control under stress * Moderate standing, bending, and stooping
