Positions radiologic equipment and adjusts controls to set exposure time and distance according to examination specifications. Duties and ResponsibilitiesRetrieve radiologic orders and input related data into the electronic medical record system.Prepare patients for radiologic procedures.Escort patients to dressing and x-ray rooms and provide verbal or written instructions.Assist patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed.Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.Position patients on the examination table and adjust positioning devices to obtain optimal images of the requested body area.Operate specialized radiology equipment according to established protocols with limited physician supervision.Provide imaging services across various hospital departments including Emergency Room, fluoroscopy, surgery, Children's Hospital, PACU, Endoscopy, outpatient imaging centers, and other clinical locations.Perform portable radiology services across hospital units when required.Adjust radiographic exposure factors such as time and distance based on radiographic techniques and protocols.Practice radiation protection techniques including patient shielding and beam restriction to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.Obtain acceptable radiologic images using CR/DR technology and protocols.Ensure proper operation of radiology equipment by completing preventative maintenance checks and following manufacturer instructions.Troubleshoot equipment issues and report malfunctions to supervisors or radiology IT personnel.Maintain equipment inventories and assist in evaluating new equipment and imaging techniques.Ensure informed consent is obtained prior to procedures and answer patient questions.Participate in universal safety protocols for invasive procedures.Perform patient care in sterile environments under physician or radiology assistant guidance.Maintain professional standards consistent with ARRT and ASRT practice guidelines. Required Skills and Experience0 to 6 months of related experience.Working knowledge of digital radiography (DR) and/or computerized radiography (CR) equipment, techniques, and protocols.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with healthcare teams.Positive attitude, self-motivated, and dependable.Ability to perform work accurately and adapt to changing work conditions and responsibilities.Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior at all times.Basic computer skills required.Ability to wear lead protective equipment for extended periods. Education and CertificationsCompletion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R).Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
