Position Summary Join the dedicated team that serves nutritious and delicious meals to veterans who call our facility home! Under general supervision, the Food Service Aide interprets diet orders on tray lines following food safety and sanitation standards. This position also assists with quantity food production, performs breakfast or grill cooking, transports food carts between kitchen and servery areas, and works catered functions. Salary Information Starting wage is $17.64 per hour with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. Sign-On Bonus of $3000 for eligible new hires who agree to remain in the job for one year. $1500 will be paid in the employee's first paycheck and $1500 will be paid when the employee completes a probationary period. Food Service Assistant 2 is in pay schedule-pay range 03-09. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current State employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan. Job Details The available full-time position works a standard shift between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with every-other weekend and requires working overtime as needed. The available part-time position works 32 hours per week on a standard shift between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. weekdays with every-other weekend. Job duties include moving carts weighing an average of 500 pounds safely through hallways; moving equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds; moving equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance; and performing medium to heavy manual labor. Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment. Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test. A 12-month probationary period may be required.
