Position Type: Support Staff/Instructional AssistantDate Posted: 4/8/2026Location: Little Spartans PreschoolSummary: Assists in the preparation and serving of quality food to students in a quick and pleasant manner. Assists in providing safe transportation of preschool students to and from designated locations. Under supervision, assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assignedServes breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack.Assist with the daily cleaning of the classroom to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions are met.Supervises and interacts with children while they are eating, on the bus, and during classroom activities.Provide childcare during parent meetings, once a month during evening hours. Maintain good student conduct on the bus yet treats children with respect.Communicate inappropriate student behavior to the teacher and/or bus driver.Secure special equipment that may accompany the student on the bus.Is alert to any conditions in the loading and unloading area which present a danger to students.Participate in all recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and meetings.Maintain a professional attitude, conducts self as a role model for students and families, and works cooperatively on the team of school staff.Maintain own regular and prompt attendance.Maintain appropriate appearance.Promote good public relations for the school district and community.Remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the corporation.Carry out Head Start Program Performance Standards in accordance with program policies. Adhere to the Head Start Code of Conduct. Previous experience in working with preschool children is preferred.Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to complete routine reports. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students and families.Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions.Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to perform job and communicate in a noisy environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, families, and the school community. Maintains confidentiality of student records and student and/or family situation(s). While performing the duties of the job the employee occasionally may visit a child's home.
