Primary Purpose of the Organization: Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit: The Residence Life program is designed to provide an environment that supports students in their academic pursuits, encourages interpersonal development, and offers opportunities for individual growth and challenge. To provide a quality of life for on-campus students through a clean, safe, educational environment. Responsible for the overall leadership and management of all residence halls, the assignments of rooms, occupancy status of halls, housekeeping needs, maintenance concerns, and budgets, including operating and programming. Our diverse residence hall environments promote learning and personal growth through programs that enable students to acknowledge and appreciate diversity through open dialogue, establish a personal sense of interdependence, and prepare them for responsible service as members of the global community. Primary Purpose of the Position: Primary Purpose of the Position: The Graduate Resident Assistant (GRA) is a graduate level college student who has the responsibility of leading efforts to build connections with students residing in the residence halls. They work closely with other professional and administrative staff in Residence Life and other departments to establish and uphold an environment that fosters a sense of community through academic excellence, inclusivity, and personal growth opportunities for students. As a member of the Department of Housing & Residence Life, each GRA will uphold the mission statements of FSU and the Department of Housing & Residence Life and ensure compliance with the policies and procedures outlined in the FSU Code of Conduct and the Guide of Residential Living. The GRA plays a vital role in creating an environment where students can develop independence, achieve academic success, and learn to live cooperatively with others. The GRA will be tasked with various duties such as fostering community, organizing events, managing administrative responsibilities, providing customer service, making student/guest referrals, and assisting in leading community building initiatives. They will act as the primary contact for students and guests within their designated community and the Department of Housing & Residence Life and are expected to display a high level of professionalism. As Graduate level leaders, GRAs are expected to take on a leadership role in their community and among the undergraduate student leaders within their assigned facility. Housing expenses, and a monthly stipend will be provided by the department. GRAs will be responsible for their tuition. GRAs are required to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 and must be residing on campus to be eligible for the position. * GRAs need to be accessible both during weekdays and weekends for on-duty or on-call duties. GRAs should have some availability during both daytime and evening hours. * GRAs are expected to work during adverse weather, special events (e.g., Homecoming Week, Spirit Week, Spring Break), and holidays. * GRAs are responsible for sharing duty assignments during periods when residential facilities are open or at reduced operations, which may include the December holidays and other breaks. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: * Pursuing a master degree in Sociology/Social Work/Leadership/Education/ Business Management/or related field. * Registered as a full-time Graduate student at Fayetteville State University. * 2.5 Undergraduate GPA and Required to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 during post baccalaureate/graduate school classes * Familiarity with campus community resources is essential. * Openness and ability to reside on campus as the primary place of living. On campus assignments for work and living are determined by the Department of Residence Life. Knowledge skills and abilities: * Must be available to move on campus and begin training during advertised dates. * Experience using Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and other related software programs to create documents and presentations. Preferred Qualifications: * Undergraduate housing student worker experience or experience working as part of student leadership as an undergraduate. * Group or team leadership skills * Experience with learning management software (lms) systems.
