About the Role:The RN-Biologics Coordinator plays a critical role in managing and coordinating the administration and logistics of biologic therapies within UAB Medical West. This position ensures that patients receive biologic treatments safely, efficiently, and in compliance with established protocols and regulatory standards. The coordinator acts as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and pharmaceutical representatives to facilitate seamless communication and treatment delivery. They are responsible for monitoring patient progress, managing treatment schedules, and maintaining accurate documentation to support clinical outcomes and regulatory requirements. Ultimately, this role contributes to optimizing patient care and advancing the effective use of biologic therapies in clinical practice.Minimum Qualifications:Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license or equivalent in Alabama.Minimum of 1 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in infusion therapy, oncology, rheumatology, or related fields involving biologic treatments.Strong knowledge of biologic therapies, their administration protocols, and potential side effects.Familiarity with healthcare regulatory requirements and documentation standards.Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage complex scheduling and patient coordination.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working specifically with biologic medications in a clinical or infusion center setting.Certification in infusion nursing (e.g., CRNI) or specialty nursing certifications related to biologics or chronic disease management.Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data management tools.Background in patient education and counseling related to biologic therapies.Experience participating in clinical research or quality improvement projects involving biologic treatments.Responsibilities:Coordinate the scheduling and administration of biologic therapies for patients, ensuring adherence to treatment protocols and timelines.Serve as the primary point of contact for patients receiving biologic treatments, providing education, support, and addressing any concerns or side effects.Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, nurses, and pharmacists, to optimize patient care plans and treatment outcomes.Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of patient treatments, responses, and any adverse events in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.Monitor inventory and supply chain logistics for biologic medications to ensure availability and proper storage conditions.Facilitate communication between healthcare providers, patients, and pharmaceutical representatives to support treatment coordination and access to therapies.Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to biologic therapy administration and patient safety.Participate in quality improvement initiatives and data collection to support clinical research and enhance biologic therapy programs.Skills:The RN-Biologics Coordinator utilizes clinical nursing skills daily to assess patient needs, administer treatments, and monitor for adverse reactions, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential for coordinating treatment schedules, liaising between patients and healthcare teams, and managing documentation accurately. Knowledge of biologic therapies allows the coordinator to educate patients effectively and anticipate potential complications. Familiarity with regulatory standards and electronic health records supports compliance and efficient data management. Preferred skills such as infusion certification and experience with clinical research enhance the coordinator's ability to contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives.
