Position Status: Part time Shift: 12 Hour Day Shift (United States of America) Hours per week: 0 Certified Respiratory Therapist Administers respiratory care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of cardiopulmonary system, under supervision of Physician and by prescription, by performing the following duties. Qualifications * High School Diploma / GED Required * Associate's Degree Graduate of Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program Preferred * Respiratory Therapist - KSBHA Must also be Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by Kansas State Board of Healing Arts. New Graduates with a temporary license issued by the KSBHA are allowed 90 days from date of graduation to successfully obtain CRT credentialing by the NBRC. Required * Certified Respiratory Therapist - NBRC Credentialed as CRT by the NBRC. New graduates are allowed 90 days from graduation to obtain successfully obtain CRT credentials from the NBRC Required * Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire. Required * NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation within 90 days of hire. Required * ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Preferred Essential Job Duties * Reads prescription, and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment such as type and duration of therapy, and medication and dosages. * Determines most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed, and modifications which may be needed that will be compatible with Physician's orders. Consults with Physician in event of adverse reactions. * Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators. * Operates equipment to ensure specified parameters of treatment such as volume, gas concentration, humidity, and temperature, and to administer medicinal gases and aerosol drugs to patients. Observes equipment function and adjusts equipment to obtain optimum results to therapy. Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently. Reports improper working equipment. * Monitors patient's physiological responses to therapy such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes. * Performs bronchopulmonary drainage and assists patient in performing breathing exercises. * Performs basic life support measures. * Maintains patient's chart that contains pertinent identification and therapy information. Records accurate patient charges. * Demonstrates respiratory care procedures to orientees. Serves as Clinical Instructor for Respiratory students. * Maintains ABL machines by performing daily maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. * Performs acquisition and analysis of arterial blood. Registered Respiratory Therapist The Respiratory Therapist provides Cardiopulmonary care services under direction of Physician and by prescription. This position administers respiratory care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system, performs diagnostic tests and procedures and provides cardiac and pulmonary rehab for patients with chronic diseases of the Cardiopulmonary system. Qualifications * High School Diploma / GED Required * Associate's Degree Graduate of Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program Preferred * Registered Respiratory Therapist - NBRC Must be credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Required * Respiratory Therapist - KSBHA Must be licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts. Required * Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire. * ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Preferred * NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation within 90 days of hire. Required Essential Job Duties * Reviews EMR for physician orders and patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment such as type and duration of therapy, medication and dosages. Accurately documents all patient care and completes patient charges in patient's electronic medical record. * Determines most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed, and modifications which may be needed that will be compatible with Physician's orders. Consults with Physician in event of adverse reactions. * Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, non-invasive ventilation, therapeutic gas administration, blood gas collection and analysis and aerosol equipment. Observes equipment function and adjusts equipment to obtain optimum results to therapy. Inspects and tests Cardiopulmonary and respiratory therapy equipment to ensure appropriate safety and functionality. Reports improper working equipment. * Monitors patient's physiological status and responses to therapy, tests and procedures such as vital signs, breath sounds, respiratory rate and pattern, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes. * Administers bronchopulmonary hygiene procedures and assists patient in performing breathing exercises. * Performs Cardiopulmonary testing procedures as ordered by physician, including preparation of equipment, assessment and monitoring of patient during procedure, coaching patient during procedure and maintaining infection control processes for patient and equipment. * Performs tests, procedures and treatments to inpatients and outpatients on a scheduled basis as well as emergent patient situations. * Performs basic life support measures and responds to emergent patient situations. * Maintains all cardiopulmonary and respiratory equipment by performing daily maintenance, calibration, pre-use check out procedures and troubleshooting to ensure and maintain a state of readiness. * Provides patient and family education on Cardiopulmonary disorders, tests, procedures, therapies and treatments. * Assists Cardiac and Pulmonary rehab patients in therapeutic exercises and activities, provides patient education during rehab sessions, assesses and monitors patients and completes documentation and patient charges.
