A specialty pharmacy is opening a new location in Shreveport, LA, and seeks an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead and manage all aspects of pharmacy operations. This direct hire opportunity offers the chance to oversee the build-out, regulatory compliance, and daily functions of a brand-new specialty pharmacy, working closely with specialty care clinics to optimize patient outcomes. Responsibilities: Serve as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge, ensuring compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA, and accreditation standards. Manage pharmacy build-out and opening, including procurement of insurance contracts and regulatory approvals. Oversee daily operations ensuring safe, accurate dispensing and adherence to clinical protocols. Develop and enforce policies for prescription processing, drug storage, and security procedures. Lead audits, maintain documentation, and coordinate responses for inspections by regulatory bodies. Supervise and train pharmacy staff to uphold quality standards and continuing education requirements. Collaborate with providers and clinic staff to optimize medication access, including prior authorization and benefit investigations. Manage inventory, including temperature-sensitive drugs and recall procedures. Support patient counseling, therapeutic substitution, and prior authorization reviews. Participate in strategic planning to expand pharmacy services and value-based care initiatives. Qualifications: Licensed pharmacist in good standing with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy, eligible to serve as PIC. Prior experience as a PIC or Pharmacy Manager in outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy settings is required. Inpatient-only experience will not be considered. Knowledge of specialty medication benefits, prior authorization processes, and financial assistance programs. Proficient with pharmacy software such as QS1, ComputerRx, PioneerRx, or equivalent; experience with EMR systems (EPIC, Cerner) or specialty pharmacy software (Therigy, Asembia1) is a plus. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with providers and clinic teams. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree.
