The Optometrist will provide professional optometric services at the Venice Family Clinic. The Optometrist reports to the Associate Medical Director and collaborates closely with other members of the Clinical Management Team. The Optometrist is expected to work independently, checking in with the Vision Services Coordinator as necessary and having regular meetings to coordinate and discuss goals and work issues. Full Salary Range: 109,000 - 153,100 Job Qualifications Press space or enter keys to toggle section visibility Possession of a license issued by the California State Board of Optometry to practice optometry Verbal communication skills to clearly convey information to patients, students, faculty, and staff Ability to speak Spanish such that an interpreter is not routinely needed during care Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the assigned tasks and responsibilities Knowledge of medical problems of minority, medically underserved populations, and the and the homeless. Skill in providing care in a high-volume clinic setting. Write prescriptions for glasses for all patients who need them. Obtain images on diagnostic equipment such as corneal topography, corneal tomography, specular microscopy, confocal microscopy, corneal pachymetry, anterior segment OCT, etc. Ability to teach and supervise volunteers, residents and/or students. Ability to work as a team with multi-disciplinary staff and providers.
