Community Health Services Director Starting Salary Range: $73,615 - $81,065 annually General schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm Location: Bloomington, IL About the Role The Community Health Services Director provides strategic, operational, and fiscal leadership for the Community Health Services Division. This includes oversight of public health nursing, immunizations, communicable disease services, HIV/AIDS testing and support services, dental hygiene and education, and emergency preparedness and response. This position plays a vital leadership role in ensuring programs are effective, compliant, data-driven, and aligned with public health laws and best practices. The Director works closely with supervisors, clinical staff, community partners, and the Health Department Administrator to deliver high-quality services that protect and promote the health of McLean County residents. What You'll Do * Lead, mentor, and support supervisory and clinical staff across multiple public health programs. * Oversee approximately 20 employees, contractual dentists, and a part-time physician through direct and indirect supervision. * Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. * Direct division budgeting, monitor expenditures, and provide fiscal oversight. * Prepare and administer grant applications and funding requirements. * Analyze data and prepare reports for the Board of Health and other stakeholders. * Guide staff in the appropriate use and communication of public health data. * Coordinate division communications to ensure clear, accurate, and timely public messaging. * Build and maintain partnerships with schools, healthcare providers, community organizations, and other agencies. * Represent the Health Department on boards, committees, and community groups as assigned. * Support emergency preparedness activities, including serving in an Incident Command Staff role during public health responses. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in public health, community health, nursing, or a related field. * 4-6 years of experience in clinic management or supervisory leadership in a fast-paced environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications * Experience in a professional-level role within government, healthcare, or public health. * Experience developing and implementing strategic plans. * Experience with performance management and quality improvement initiatives. * Demonstrated ability to align teams with organizational mission and goals. * Experience prioritizing and sequencing complex initiatives. Licenses & Certifications * Valid Illinois Driver's License with safe driving record and proof of insurability. * Registered Nurse license in Illinois (or reciprocal state) may be required. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work is primarily performed in an office setting with occasional off-site clinics or emergency response activities. Duties may include sitting, standing, walking, lifting light objects, operating office equipment, and driving.
