Job Description

AFIA is seeking a Student Support Coach to begin working as soon as possible. However, candidates are welcome to apply for a August 1, 2026 start date. The Student Support Coach works directly with students to support their social-emotional development, behavioral growth, and academic engagement. This role focuses on coaching students in developing self-regulation, problem-solving, and responsible decision-making skills.The Student Support Coach provides targeted support to students receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions within the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. This position collaborates closely with teachers, families, and the Student Support Team to ensure students receive consistent, restorative, and relationship-centered support that promotes success in the classroom and across the school community.The Academy for Integrated Arts is a public charter school committed to educating the whole child through arts integration, strong relationships, and high academic expectations.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of student success plans for students receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions within the MTSS frameworkCoach students in developing self-regulation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skillsGuide students in reflecting on choices, accepting responsibility for actions, repairing harm, and creating plans for restoration and future successWork directly with students individually and in small groups to support social-emotional skill development and positive behavioral outcomesCollaborate with teachers and staff to address behavioral, emotional, and social needs that impact student learningMonitor student progress related to behavioral, emotional, and mental health concerns and communicate updates with the Student Support TeamBuild strong partnerships with families and engage parents/guardians as partners in supporting student growth and successReinforce school-wide expectations and provide real-time coaching and positive reinforcement across school settings (e.g., Student Success Center, playground, hallways, cafeteria, dismissal)Maintain accurate student documentation and records (e.g., incident reports, student success plans, behavior documentation)Collaborate with the Student Support Team to review student data and determine appropriate supports and next stepsWhat Makes Someone Successful in This RoleSuccessful Student Support Coaches:Build strong, trusting relationships with students while maintaining high expectationsRemain calm, patient, and solution-oriented when supporting students through challenging momentsUse restorative and relationship-centered approaches to guide student reflection and growthConsistently reinforce positive behavior and help students develop the skills needed to regulate emotions and solve problemsWork collaboratively with teachers, families, and the Student Support Team to ensure students receive consistent supportBelieve deeply in the potential of every child and remain committed to helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionalWho Thrives in This RoleThis role is a strong fit for individuals who:Enjoy working directly with students and building meaningful relationshipsAre passionate about supporting students' social-emotional development and behavioral growthAre flexible, patient, consistent, and able to remain steady during challenging situationBelieve in restorative approaches and teaching students skills rather than relying solely on consequenceAre collaborative and communicate effectively with teachers, families, and colleaguesFind purpose in helping students develop the skills needed to be successful both in school and in lifeMinimum QualificationsMinimum of 60 college credit hoursExperience working with children or youth in a school or youth-serving settingStrong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skillsAbility and experience in supporting students in developing self-regulation and problem-solving skillsStrong collaboration and problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related fieldExperience supporting students within an MTSS Knowledge of or experience with restorative practices in schoolsExperience supporting student social-emotional learning and behavior developmentPrevious training with Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)Familiarity with Conscious Discipline, Responsive Classroom, or similar relationship-centered practicesAdditional InformationCompensation: Commensurate with experiencePlease reach out to Executive Director, Tricia DeGraff (tricia.degraff@) with questions
