Ophthalmic Technician Eye Care 0.90 FTE, 72 Hours a Pay Period Day Shift, Hours between 7:30 am - 5 pm Weekends: No Holidays: No Telecommute Available: No Position Overview: The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible to deliver the highest of customer service standards for patients and families presenting for ophthalmology services. The Ophthalmic Tech will be responsible for patient care including but not limited to; rooming, performing pre-examination testing, and assisting the Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist as needed. This individual will enter patient information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and will assist with the coordination of surgical and diagnostic procedures for Ophthalmology patients. The Ophthalmic Tech is expected to establish and maintain professional interaction with patients, physicians, and fellow colleagues. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Rooming patients for exam. * Obtaining and documenting patient histories in a timely fashion. * Performing evaluations of the visual system including: visual fields, ocular motility, pupil assessment, and intraocular pressure of patients. * Assisting Ophthalmologist and Optometrist as needed. * Performing ophthalmic imaging and supplemental testing on patients including Autorefractor Keratometer, A-Scan, and Optical Coherence Tomography. * Assist with patient education. * Following proper aseptic techniques within the clinic. * Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions as needed. * Assisting the Ophthalmologist in minor procedures performed in clinic. * Coordinating and scheduling care of patients referred for surgical services. * Inputting all applicable data into the Electronic Medical Record (Cerner). * Ordering of general supplies for the department as needed. * Read and/or transpose of patients prescriptions for glasses. * Knowledge of different eyewear options. * Other duties as assigned.
