Valley is committed to being an organization that promotes authenticity and encourages opportunities for success.Job Summary & Deliverables A Certified Peer Support Specialist is an individual who uses their lived experience in recovery from mental illness and/or substance use disorder, in addition to skills learned in formal training, to deliver services promoting recovery and resiliency. Certified peer specialists offer support and empower callers to resolve problems by fostering a sense of hope, dignity, and self-respect.Essential Functions Assists with maintaining a safe and hazard-free environment by observing and documenting client behavior, reporting unsafe conditions and applying appropriate emotional and physical supportAssists with providing a therapeutic milieu for clients by encouraging clients to participate in recreational activities and group therapiesAssists with supportive therapy for select clients by leading activity and conversation groupsAssists in the development of client behavioral expectationsAssists with the unit's training and quality assurance programsFunctions as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment teamAssists with initiating and contributing to client treatment planning, teaching and discharge planning.RequirementsEducationHigh School diploma or equivalentExperience Certified Peer Support Specialist certification through DHHS required prior to starting see Preferred QualificationsLicenses/CertificationsCertified Peer Support Specialist certificationCPR certificationValley de-escalation certification Preferred Qualifications Former client of Valley Behavioral HealthSalary Description $18.00-$22.50
