The Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) plays a critical role in ensuring early identification, timely intervention, and equitable access to academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports.WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are seeking a strategic, systems-oriented, and outcomes-driven leader to serve as the Director of MTSS & Intervention Systems. This leader provides districtwide oversight of intervention systems, MTSS implementation, and early intervention frameworks to ensure all students receive timely, evidence-based academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support. The Director ensures alignment between Tier 1 core instruction, Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, and special education referral processes, strengthening early intervention and reducing inappropriate referrals. This role partners with campus leaders, academic teams, and student support departments to implement effective intervention systems and improve student outcomes. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated record of strengthening intervention systems, improving student achievement, using data to drive decision-making, and building campus capacity to support diverse learners. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Strategic Leadership Develop and implement a districtwide vision for MTSS aligned with district academic priorities and student outcome goals. Establish clear expectations for intervention systems, progress monitoring, and campus MTSS implementation. Ensure alignment between MTSS, special education, academic instruction, and student support services. Collaborate with Academic Services, Special Education, Research & Accountability, and campus leadership to strengthen intervention systems. Use data and continuous improvement cycles to strengthen student intervention outcomes. 2. MTSS Implementation & Intervention Systems Lead districtwide implementation of MTSS across all campuses. Ensure consistent implementation of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 intervention supports. Establish systems for intervention planning, implementation, and progress monitoring. Ensure campuses utilize evidence-based interventions aligned to student needs. Monitor intervention fidelity and effectiveness across campuses. 3. Data, Progress Monitoring & Accountability Develop and maintain MTSS data tracking systems using district data platforms. Monitor student intervention outcomes, including academic, behavioral, and attendance indicators. Analyze districtwide MTSS data to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Develop dashboards, reports, and executive summaries to support district leadership. Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of intervention systems. 4. Campus Support & Capacity Building Provide coaching and support to campus administrators and MTSS teams. Support campuses in developing effective intervention plans based on student data. Guide campus teams in intervention problem-solving and decision-making processes. Assist campuses in strengthening Tier 1 instruction and reducing intervention dependency. Support implementation of MTSS systems aligned to district expectations. 5. Professional Learning & Staff Development Design and deliver professional learning related to MTSS and intervention systems. Build campus capacity to implement evidence-based interventions. Train staff on data analysis, progress monitoring, and intervention planning. Support instructional leaders in strengthening core instruction and intervention alignment. 6. Referral Systems Alignment & Compliance Ensure MTSS systems align with IDEA, TEA, and district requirements. Strengthen intervention documentation to support appropriate special education referrals. Support Child Find efforts through effective early intervention systems. Ensure intervention systems align with district policies and procedures. 7. Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement Evaluate effectiveness of district MTSS systems and intervention programs. Identify system gaps and implement improvement strategies. Develop standard operating procedures for MTSS implementation. Monitor and improve intervention effectiveness across campuses. 8. Team Leadership & Collaboration Provide leadership and guidance to MTSS staff and intervention personnel. Collaborate across departments to ensure coordinated student support systems. Establish clear workflows and accountability structures. Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 9. Other Duties as Assigned QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification Bachelor's degree require Master's degree preferred in Special ED, or similar field Texas educator certification required Principal or leadership certification Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred Experience 5+ years of successful experience in education Experience implementing MTSS, RTI, or intervention systems required Experience in campus or district leadership preferred Experience analyzing student performance and intervention data Experience supporting diverse student populations Special Knowledge & Skills Strong knowledge of MTSS framework and intervention systems Knowledge of IDEA, Child Find, and referral compliance requirements Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills Ability to lead systems-level change Strong organizational and leadership skills Ability to collaborate across departments and campuses Proficiency in Microsoft Office and educational data systems WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in both office and campus environments.
