JOB SUMMARY The Risk Management & Environmental Safety Officer is responsible for identifying, evaluating and controlling potential workplace hazards such as exposure to electricity, working from heights, airborne contaminants, chemical exposure, noise, ergonomic hazards and biological agents. The Risk Management & Environmental Safety Officer position plays a crucial role in ensuring worker and student well-being and in preventing occupational injuries and illnesses. The Risk Management & Environmental Safety Officer must be flexible enough to assume a variety of roles as determined by the changing needs of the ACHE campuses. It is imperative that the Risk Management & Environmental Safety Officer be able to relate well to others and handle administrative responsibilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and maintain health and safety policies and proceduresConduct workplace assessments to identify riskDevelop and implement control measures to mitigate hazardsMonitor worker exposures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulationsMaintain OSHA records for compliance Develop technical reports including incident investigations, and present recommended improvements to workplace design and processesPartner with lab managers to implement laboratory safety policies and proceduresManage chemical inventoryOversee Fire System InspectionsAssist in emergency preparedness and response planningProvide Workplace Safety TrainingDevelop and administer Respiratory Protection ProgramRepresent ACHE during regulatory visits or inspectionsServe as Chair on ACHE Safety CommitteeManage Workers Compensation ProgramOther duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or their designeeRequirementsQUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Education and Experience Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences or related fieldLeadership and management experienceStrong organizational and time-management skillsMust have strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software applications.Preferred QualificationsMinimum of 2 years' experience in the field Working knowledge of air permitting, Tier II reporting, hazardous waste management, etcRequired knowledge, skills, and abilitiesDemonstrate proficiency in computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office.Display professionalism for the college in all communication and interaction.Demonstrates a high degree of ethical behavior and adheres to the standards and policies of the Arkansas Colleges of Health EducationAbility to maintain confidentiality and privacyAbility to work independentlyAbility to prioritize and organize numerous and varied assignments.
