Job Responsibilities: 45%-Mentor students daily in topics associated with shelter medicine and surgery. Bring students to shelters and supervise physical exams and treatments. Participate on the mobile unit activities which includes anesthesia and surgery. Help with shelter inspections and management issues. Participate in 2 spay days during the year as a surgeon. 35%-Assist in student education at CAA 10%-Participate with ongoing research projects and sample collection. 10%-In the event of an emergency accompany the mobile unit for disaster medicine issues. Attend and participate in VCS Seminar Series (present 1 seminar) for house officer rounds. Attend or present at Louisiana Animal Control Association's yearly meeting. Participate and help organize community educational seminars hosted by Shelter Medicine program. Participate and help organize community outreach events EX: LSUSVM Open House and media events.
