Job Type Full-timeDescription*Please note that this position will require travel between our Morganton and Hickory offices* The primary responsibility is to assist the oral surgeon in providing quality patient care through using correct method of passing surgery instruments to always maximize patient and staff safety. Facilitates services including blood pressure, radiographs, charting all medical health histories, performing procedures in compliance with the oral surgery office.Essential Duties:Prepares treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocolsTakes and records patient's vital signs such as blood pressure and respiration rateAssists surgeon with general anesthesia and intravenous sedation proceduresDuring treatment, the assistant transfers surgical instruments to oral surgeon and prepares surgical dressingsMonitors intravenous fluids and vital signs during and after the surgery procedure.Takes dental radiographs, prepares prescriptions, maintains inventory of supplies in operatoryEnters patients' treatment in computer and prepares all consent forms regarding surgery and the use of anesthesiaGives patients post operative care instructionsSchedules patients' next visit appointmentMaintains equipment and instruments by proper care, cleaning, and sterilizationAdheres to office education and protocolMaintains patient confidentiality and conducts self in a professional mannerAny other duties as assignedKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with OSHA infection control policiesHelps oral surgeon manage medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency kit, oxygen and other emergency suppliesEducation / Experience Required:High School Diploma or equivalentSpecial Requirements/Certifications/Licenses:DAI CertificationX-Ray CertificationCPR Certification2+ years of chair side experience, preferably in oral surgery, dental, and/or periodontics.Benefits:Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance401(k)PTO and Holiday payCompetitive PaySchedule:Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
