Job Description

The University of Texas Permian Basin welcomes applications for the position of Director of our Mental Health Center. Salary Range $90,000.00 - $96,000.00 depending on qualifications Essential Functions The Director of the Mental Health Center oversees and advances counseling, psychological, and wellbeing services through strategic leadership and administrative management, ensuring effective clinical supervision, high quality mental health services, coordinated crisis response, and comprehensive campuswide outreach. The Director provides vision and direction to enhance clinical operations, strengthen prevention and intervention efforts, and expand access to care. The Director also builds and sustains collaborative partnerships across the university and the broader community to increase resources, support innovative wellbeing initiatives, and promote a healthy and supportive campus environment that fosters student wellbeing and enhances student success. 1. Strategic and budgetary oversight of the Mental Health Center 2. Planning, administration, management, and evaluation of the Mental Health Center team, services, and operations, including direct supervision of assigned staff that includes clinical staff and other personnel 3. Develops, implements, and reviews departmental policy and procedures 4. Leads the assessment of operation, technical, and communication activities in an educational setting and use of assessment results to make changes in services to students 5. Identifies, develops, and executes short and long-term strategic goals and initiatives to enhance student success 6. Oversight of the coordination, consultation, and guidance for crisis/liaison services, including intervention and post-intervention services for emergencies and highly acute critical incidents 7. Assists divisional leadership regarding policy and practices in support of campus mental health needs, campus and community education, and awareness 8. Manages the operations and facilities that comprise the Mental Health Center 9. Collaboration with various departments and committees to provide support, outreach, and consultation to campus community to promote interactions that build upon and increase both the campus community and student's knowledge around mental health and awareness of campus resources 10. Provides support for other divisional priorities and initiatives beyond the scope of the department Required Qualifications 1. Master's degree from an accredited program in counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related field of study. 2. Six (6) years of related experience (including internships in higher education and/or related field) with applicable clinical experience. At least three (3) years of progressive leadership responsibilities in a related setting. 3. Licensed to practice as a mental health professional in the State of Texas or must be able to obtain licensure in Texas. Preferred Qualifications 1. Doctorate from an accredited program in counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related field of study. Additional Information Required Application Materials 1. Schedule Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments. Standard Working Conditions 1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. 2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously. 3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously. 4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time. 5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement. 6.
