. Biochemistry Instructor This position is a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Biochemistry. The appointment is effective starting August 2026. The successful candidate reports to the Chair of the School of STEM. Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a minimum of a master's degree in biochemistry, doctorate or ABD in biochemistry preferred. Job Requirements: The candidate should have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and academic advising of students, participating in departmental activities that foster community and a demonstrated ability to conduct and supervise undergraduate student research projects. Duties and responsibilities: Successfully teach up to twelve hours of any or combination of the following courses: Biochemistry I & II lab lectures/ labs and other courses within the chemistry department. Full-time faculty members teach 12-15 hours per semester. They must hold six (6) office hours per week, and may be assigned additional teaching responsibilities and duties at the discretion of the program coordinator, school chair, college dean or Vice President for Academic Affairs Other responsibilities include assisting in the development of curriculum and participating in service activities to support the University, community, and profession. The successful applicant may also collaborate with other faculty members in conducting interdisciplinary research and engage students in conducting undergraduate research. Academic Advising Full -time faculty members serve as student academic advisors. Environment Full-time faculty members work in classrooms, offices, labs and related venues to accomplish educational and research activities. Meetings Full-time faculty members are expected to attend and participate in program, school, college and General Assembly meetings. Office Hours Full-time faculty members are required to schedule 6 officer hours per week. Physical Requirements Communicate with students, staff and colleagues. Read academic texts and materials, student papers, etc. Operate personal computer and audio-visual equipment. Stand or sit for up to one to three hours at a time. Fly or drive to off-site meetings or conference. Move around campus for classes and meetings. Other requirements as specified by a job description. Scholarly Activity Each full-time faculty member is expected to stay current in his/her field. Teaching Full-time faculty members may be assigned up to twelve credit hours each semester. Full-time faculty members are expected to prepare for and meet their teaching responsibilities for every class. University/Community Service At his/her discretion, Full-time faculty members participate in activities relating to university programs, courses, governance, etc., or community activities which impact on, or are impacted by, the University and which contribute to the growth and development of student, the university and the community.
