As a Nozzle Design Engineer – Level 3 or Level 4 located in Promontory, UT, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is seeking a Nozzle Design Engineer 3 / 4 to join our Process Engineering team. This position will be supporting the Propulsion Systems Division at our facility located in Promontory, UT.Roles and Responsibilities: The Nozzle Design Engineer is responsible for designing solid rocket motor nozzles for a variety of government and commercial programs. This individual will use their engineering knowledge and creativity to develop design solutions that meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements.Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide accurate, on-time 3D models, drawings and specifications for next generation nozzle designsConduct and lead trade studiesDefine, develop, and qualify design changesPerform preliminary structural analysis of nozzle componentsProvide technical guidance and direction to engineering teams in the design, test, and production phases of a projectInteract with development teams (including specialists in Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, Thermal, Structural, Materials, and Test) to certify creative design solutions that meet all requirements (technical, cost, schedule)Develop and present materials for project related briefings including design reviews to be given to internal and external customersPerform anomaly resolution and conduct special studiesParticipate in postfire evaluations of nozzle hardwareOther duties as assignedIf this job description reads like it was written specifically for you, consider joining our team!This position can be filled at either a Level 3 or Level 4.Basic Qualifications forLevel 3: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience.Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearanceBasic Qualifications forLevel 4: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 4 years of professional experience.Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearancePreferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of GD&T, composite manufacturingSoftware experience in NX, TeamCenterFamiliarity with MRB processExperience with solid rocket motorsCurious about all the exciting developments with the Northrop Grumman Space Sector? Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
