Job Description We are seeking an experienced Sr Civil Inspector - Water/Wastewater to support construction inspection services on municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including work for the City of Phoenix and other local agencies. This role requires a seasoned field professional with strong technical knowledge of water and wastewater construction, and the ability to independently lead inspection efforts in the field. This position is primarily field-based and involves overseeing construction activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements. The Sr Civil Inspector will serve as a key liaison between contractors, project engineers, and City representatives, while assisting with coordination and issue resolution on active construction sites. A company vehicle and work phone (or phone reimbursement) are provided. Key Responsibilities * Lead and perform comprehensive field inspections for water, wastewater, and related civil infrastructure projects to verify compliance with construction plans, specifications, codes, and municipal standards. * Observe, document, and verify daily construction activities, including installed quantities, materials, testing, workmanship, and site conditions. * Identify, document, and communicate deficiencies or nonconforming work, and coordinate with project engineers and contractors to support resolution. * Prepare and review daily inspection reports, quantity tracking, photo documentation, and field notes using standard documentation systems. * Coordinate effectively with contractors, engineers, inspectors, and City representatives to support project progress and resolve field issues. * Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and coordination meetings as required. * Serve as a Sr field resource, providing guidance to junior inspectors when assigned to the project. * Enforce compliance with OSHA regulations, site-specific safety plans, and project safety requirements. * Properly use and maintain company-issued vehicles, tools, and communication equipment. * Drive safely to and between project sites throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. * Work outdoors for extended periods, including in high-temperature Arizona summer conditions. * Work overtime or extended hours as needed to meet project schedules and critical construction milestones. * Perform additional related duties as assigned to support successful project delivery. Required Qualifications * 5+ years of experience in civil construction inspection or construction oversight, with a strong focus on water and wastewater infrastructure projects. * Hands-on inspection experience with water mains, sewer mains, force mains, manholes, valves, structures, and appurtenant facilities. * Proven ability to read, interpret, and apply construction plans, specifications, and standard details. * Strong understanding of municipal construction practices, inspection procedures, and quality control standards. * Excellent documentation and reporting skills, including preparation of clear, accurate, and defensible inspection records. * Valid driver's license with a good driving record and ability to safely operate a company vehicle. * Ability to pass municipal experience screening, including City of Phoenix requirements. * Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with contractors, engineers, and public agency representatives. * High level of accountability, organization, and attention to detail. Preferred Skills & Certifications * Extensive municipal water and wastewater inspection experience. * NICET certification in Construction Inspection or related discipline. * ACI certification. * OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Construction Safety certification. * Experience serving as a lead or Sr inspector on complex or multi-phase projects. * Familiarity with City of Phoenix standards and specifications. * Experience working on projects for large public agencies or utilities. * Work Environment This role is based out of a Phoenix office and involves extensive fieldwork on active construction sites within the City of Phoenix. You will split time between the office and outdoor job sites, working in varying weather conditions, including high summer temperatures. The company provides a vehicle for travel to project locations and a work phone or phone expense. The work schedule follows standard business hours with the expectation of overtime as project needs arise. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
