Job Description

Nature of Work * This job opportunity is not in the classified service and is not covered by the West Virginia Division of Personnel merit system.* Under general supervision at the full-performance level, these positions drive an agency-owned bus or truck between four- and eight-tons gross vehicle weight (GVW) to transport persons, supplies and/or equipment to a predetermined destination. These positions may be responsible for routine maintenance and repair of vehicle(s) and basic record keeping duties. Perform related work as required. These positions have some latitude for the exercise of independent judgment. As a maintenance worker you will be expected to be on call one week out of five. It is your responsibility to make sure your shift is covered. If you cannot be available, it is up to you to find someone to cover your time. Pre-maintenance that is assigned to you is to be performed without delay and thoroughly whether weekly, monthly, or any other time frame. Facility work orders are to be completed in a timely manner and are the responsibility equally of the entire maintenance department. Breaks are to be held at specified times. All maintenance staff's normal hours of operations are from 0700-1500 hours Monday- Friday. Overtime is to be pre-approved through the Building and Grounds Manager. AND Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience within the last eight (8) years in the operation of a bus, truck, or other similar vehicle with a GVW of four (4) tons or more. OR Substitution:Completion of a formal course in truck driving of at least 1,080 clock hours may be substituted for one (1) year of the required driving experience. Special Requirements: Must possess a valid driver's license. May require a valid commercial driver's license, with the appropriate classifications, endorsements, and restrictions, at the time of hire and must maintain such for duration of employment. Must have a good driving record with no suspension or revocation of driver's license during the past seven (7) years.
