JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Cardiac Surgery • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Largo, MD • Service Setting: Hospital - UM Capital Region Health • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: 11/1/2025 - Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday, 4 x 10-hour shifts (6:30am - 4:30pm) COVERAGE DATES • Start Date: 11/1/2025 • End Date: Unknown PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adults only (100%) • Patient Volume/Census: 8-15 patients, split amongst team until discharge • Admissions: Included • Rounding: Included • Phone Consults: Yes, as needed • Case Mix: Cardiovascular surgery patients, post-op care FACILITY INFORMATION • No. of Beds in Department: 205 • Trauma Level: Level II • EMR System: Epic • Office Equipment Available: Hospital scrubs provided • Specialty Backup Available: Cardiovascular Surgery, ICU support • Support Staff Available: Full surgical and ICU team; APPs not working solo • Reason for Coverage: Turnover vacancy PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes - Full Privileges • Temporary Privileges Available: Not specified • Credentialing Timeline: 90 days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered (mileage, airfare, lodging, rental car & fuel, ground transportation) • Lodging Cap: $150/night (for providers >40 miles from facility) • Airfare Cap: $500 domestic / $600 international roundtrip (approval required if exceeded) REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Vein harvesting using Vasoview hemopro system • Central line placement • Arterial line placement • Chest tube management • Wound care vac management JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Maryland license (or eligibility to obtain) • Board: Board Certified • DEA: Required • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CSR license • Experience: Minimum 3 years in CV OR; must have cardiovascular OR experience • Other Qualifications: Proficiency in vein harvesting with Vasoview hemopro DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Arrive at 6:30am, review OR patients, and complete interval H&P notes • Assist in 1-2 CV surgery cases per day, averaging 2-5 days/week • Provide post-op care including central/arterial lines, chest tubes, and wound vac management • Support consults and CV ICU patients when not in OR • Manage 8-15 patients in collaboration with surgical team until discharge • Participate in team-based care; not a solo role
