Physician Assistant - Interventional Glaucoma Tampa Bay St. Luke's is seeking a full-time, NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant who is interested in building a long-term career in ophthalmology within a high-performing subspecialty practice. This is a high-volume, fast-paced, multi-location practice with two surgery centers in the Tampa Bay area. St. Luke's is an established practice with a long-standing reputation for excellence in cataract surgery and advanced eye care. Our practice is Family-Owned. This position offers a rare opportunity to work directly alongside one of the leading interventional glaucoma surgeons in the country. The selected candidate will receive hands-on mentorship in advanced glaucoma management, laser interventions, MIGS, and complex surgical care within a structured, team-based model. This is a focused subspecialty position designed for a PA who wants to develop deep expertise in interventional glaucoma while contributing meaningfully to a high-volume surgical program. Mentorship & Clinical Support The Physician Assistant will work in close collaboration with the supervising interventional glaucoma surgeon and will receive comprehensive training and structured support designed to build deep subspecialty expertise. This role is well-suited for a motivated PA seeking to transition into ophthalmology or advance within a procedural subspecialty environment. Support includes: * Direct, hands-on mentorship in complex glaucoma evaluation and management * Structured onboarding program with progressive responsibility and clear competency milestones * Dedicated training in ophthalmic examination techniques, diagnostic interpretation (visual fields, OCT), and glaucoma treatment algorithms * Ongoing case review and collaborative treatment planning * Exposure to advanced surgical decision-making and perioperative strategy * Stepwise introduction to delegated procedures consistent with training and credentialing * Clearly defined escalation pathways and physician accessibility for clinical questions * Continuous feedback and professional development support Candidates without prior ophthalmology experience will receive guided subspecialty training within a structured framework to ensure clinical confidence, patient safety, and long-term success. Job Responsibilities: * Evaluate and manage established glaucoma patients under physician supervision * Perform comprehensive ophthalmic assessments within delegated scope * Interpret diagnostic testing including visual fields and OCT imaging * Support pre-operative optimization for laser and surgical candidates * Provide post-operative care for MIGS, trabeculectomy, tube shunt, and laser procedures * Assist with delegated in-office procedures consistent with Florida scope of practice and credentialing * Reinforce surgical planning and patient education * Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation * Collaborate closely with the surgeon and clinical team to deliver high-quality outcomes What Makes This Role Unique: * Direct mentorship from a nationally recognized interventional glaucoma surgeon * Exposure to complex glaucoma pathology and advanced surgical decision-making * Structured delegation model with progressive responsibility * Opportunity to build subspecialty expertise within a nationally respected organization This role is ideal for a Physician Assistant seeking long-term professional growth within a high-acuity ophthalmic specialty.
