Responsible for a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patients for procedures. Verifies proper clinician order for procedures. Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses contraindications. Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast media. Ensures all studies have proper patient identification and markers utilized appropriately. Reviews CT images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients accordingly. Responds to emergency situations and assists with the restocking of emergency equipment. Observes patient condition and properly evaluates situations for physician intervention. Verifies correct identity of patient using two unique identifiers prior to performing procedures. Ensures patient's privacy and comfort are accommodated. Maintains patients' dignity throughout examinations. Demonstrates competence in procedures and equipment based on patient age. Organizes schedule and priorities to accomplish required activities in designated time frames. Follows physician instructions when assisting with procedures. Demonstrates proficiency with loading and operating power injection equipment. Utilizes critical thinking skills effectively. Explains purpose and nature of exams clearly to minimize patient anxiety. Addresses patient concerns satisfactorily and notifies physicians when necessary. Participates in training of departmental employees. Provides patients with preparatory instructions. Ensures documentation is concise, legible, and includes precise terminology. Reads daily emails to follow through with assignments. Completes mandatory training without prompting. Produces acceptable images consistently, based on feedback and quality audits. Checks equipment for proper calibration before use. Sends studies to PACS immediately after completion. Maintains department cleanliness and restocks necessary supplies. Transports and positions patients safely. Performs patient charging activities on the same day services are rendered. Applies shielding and immobilization devices as needed. Lends knowledge and assistance to colleagues routinely. Performs clerical and support duties when warranted to ensure continuity of services. Keeps supervisors informed on responsibilities and timely notifies of potential problems. Maintains individual productivity rates. Operates all workstations associated with the CT department effectively. Fulfills Joint Commission and regulatory standards. Takes call when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
