Mental health crises can be some of the most difficult times in a person's life, and over 17 million people seeking behavioral health care experience a delay in accessing care. Willow Health is on a mission to significantly improve this experience by expanding affordable access to high-quality, evidence-based intensive behavioral health care. In 2023, we launched our virtual crisis care program that provides personalized, recovery-oriented care for people experiencing behavioral health crises. Willow Health offers patients immediate access to evidence-based virtual crisis psychotherapy, medication management, certified peer coaching, care management, groups, and around the clock crisis coverage, while working to connect patients to the most appropriate next level of care. As a therapist supervisor, you will provide telehealth evidence-based behavioral health care including comprehensive clinical assessments, differential diagnosis, creating and implementing co-created clinical treatment plans and providing crisis psychotherapy. You will work alongside our diverse and passionate multidisciplinary clinical team taking care of Willow Health's patients and making an impact in building our clinical program. You will be working closely with the medical director and supervising crisis behavioral health therapists. Our clinical team includes psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, licensed clinical social workers, licensed mental health clinicians, certified peer specialists, case managers, and clinical operations. We are looking for a thoughtful, empathic, and skilled clinician to join our highly motivated team to help improve behavioral health crisis care. This is a virtual role.Clinical Day-to-day ResponsibilitiesSupervise crisis behavioral health therapists Work with the medical director to uphold our standards of care, patient safety, behavioral health protocols, policies, and patient satisfaction.Perform comprehensive clinical assessments and develop differential diagnosisBuild therapeutic alliance with patientsCreate and implement co-created personalized treatment plans with our multidisciplinary team Conduct short-term crisis psychotherapy sessions utilizing supportive psychotherapy, motivational interviewing and/or problem solving therapy Manage a caseload of patients who you will follow for 8 to 12 weeks providing crisis psychotherapy Conduct comprehensive risk assessment and safety planning Utilize validated clinical tools to aid in differential diagnosis Work across our multidisciplinary clinical team to facilitate comprehensive behavioral health crisis care Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings Maintain appropriate documentation of all patient-related careWeekly clinical supervision Work with our patients, their families, and their providers in the community to ensure comprehensive behavioral health careDay time clinical call Clinical RequirementsBachelor's degree (or equivalent non-U.S. degree) in psychology, clinical social work, or related fieldsSuccessful completion of master's of social work degree or master's of mental health counseling Hold an active license of clinical social work or license for mental health counseling in New YorkMaintain all state requirements and continuing education requirements to provide behavioral health care Has experience with clinical assessments, developing differential diagnosis, creating and implementing clinical treatment plans Has experience with clinical risk management, suicide risk assessment, and safety planningHas experience and is comfortable with using validated clinical tools to help enhance clinical care Has experience with and is comfortable with using technology and an EMRExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical teamIn addition to the responsibilities of a Crisis Behavioral Health Clinician, listed above, a Therapist Supervisor will oversee clinical staff and support the continued development of Willow Health's crisis care programs.Supervisor Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesProvide weekly and ad hoc clinical supervision to licensed and unlicensed clinicians, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards.Review and co-sign clinical documentation, treatment plans, and risk assessments as appropriate.Support clinicians in managing complex clinical presentations, including high-risk cases, through case consultation and collaborative problem solving.Facilitate case review meetings, group supervision, and clinical trainings to enhance staff competency.Model evidence-based, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care approaches and ensure staff consistently apply them in practice.Manage team to monitor and deliver against quality assurance standards and participate in performance improvement initiatives.Provide mentorship and coaching to clinicians, fostering professional growth and skill development.Support onboarding and training of new clinical staff.Serve as a point of escalation for crisis or urgent clinical matters, ensuring appropriate interventions and coordination of care, including being on backup for daytime call.Partner with interdisciplinary leaders to refine clinical workflows, improve service delivery, and strengthen patient outcomes.Pilot new clinical initiatives to support iteration and improvement. Supervisor RequirementsActive, unrestricted LCSW, LMHC, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist license in New York, in good standing.Minimum of 5 years of direct clinical experience post-licensure, with demonstrated expertise in crisis intervention, psychotherapy, and risk management.Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience providing clinical oversight to licensed and/or pre-licensed clinicians.In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices for crisis care, including suicide risk assessment and safety planning.Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations regarding behavioral health supervision and clinical care delivery.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage supervisory responsibilities while balancing direct clinical work.Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative clinical environment.Demonstrated ability to use data and clinical outcomes to guide decision-making and improve care quality.Nice to HavesCurrent Crisis Care Therapist at Willow Health -- Hitting and exceeding expectations for Crisis Care Therapy today (e.g., note completion timeline, scheduling %, following policies and procedures), Demonstrated openness to testing and piloting new initiativesPost degree experience in providing emergency mental health services and/or urgent behavioral healthcareComprehensive knowledge of substance abuse, mental health, and recovery issues and principlesHas experience with using clinical outcomes to help enhance clinical care Has experience launching and iterating on a clinical care model, (preferred, not required) Has experience with problem solving therapy, motivational interviewing, supportive psychotherapy Experience in a start-up healthcare setting and/or an innovative healthcare program Additional DetailsApproximately 1 admin day, subject to change based on program need Supervise 8 clinical team members Provide on call support during clinic hours Additional admin responsibilities to be scoped with the Associate CMO Reports to the Associate CMOApproximately 4 clinical days, subject to change based on program needCarry a caseload of patients in the crisis program $77,600 - $145,500 a yearCompensation & LevelingThe listed salary range for this role reflects a range of potential seniority levels, experience, and clinical scope. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, years of clinical experience, licensure, relevant specialty expertise, and role level.For full-time employees, Willow utilizes a productivity-based compensation model that aligns earnings with clinical volume and performance. This model includes a guaranteed base salary, with the opportunity to earn additional compensation based on productivity metrics.
