This position is for the 2026-27 School Year GROUP: Certificated - ESA SALARY: Certificated Salary Schedule FLSA STATUS: Exempt WORKDAYS PER FISCAL YEAR: 180 ________________________________________________________________________________ SUMMARY: The School Psychologist position provides case consultation on psychological/educational issues for students who have, or are suspected of having, educational disabilities. As a part of the evaluation team, the psychologist assesses students in areas for which they are exclusively trained: cognitive, academic, functional, behavioral, social, emotional and curriculum-based assessments. School psychologist work with students who, because of illness, injury, developmental delays, or psychological problems, need assistance in learning skills to help them lead independent, productive, and satisfying lives. School psychologist use work, self-care, and recreational activities to increase independent function in students. ABOUT CHIEF LESCHI SCHOOLS: Formerly known as the Puyallup Tribal School, Chief Leschi Schools was founded in 1976 to address the high dropout rate of the youth of the Puyallup tribe. It is the largest of seven tribal schools in the state of Washington and one of approximately 200+ tribal schools in the United States. It is also one of the largest tribal schools to be funded by the Bureau of Indian Education ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: * Conduct comprehensive, culturally responsive psychoeducational evaluations using multiple data sources (cognitive, academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional assessments) * Interpret and communicate evaluation results clearly to multidisciplinary teams, families, and students; provide actionable recommendations to support student success * Serve as a key member of multidisciplinary teams, contributing to eligibility determinations, IEP development, and progress monitoring * Provide consultation to teachers, administrators, and families to support effective instructional, behavioral, and mental health interventions * Support the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), including early identification, intervention planning, and data-based decision-making * Develop and assist in implementing Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) in compliance with state and federal regulations * Participate in manifestation determinations and ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and state regulations * Provide short-term counseling and crisis intervention services to students as appropriate * Collaborate with school teams to promote safe, positive, and inclusive school climates that support student well-being * Connect students and families with community-based mental health and support services as needed * Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant records, reports, and documentation * Participate in school improvement efforts, professional development, and district initiatives * Promote culturally responsive practices and integrate Native American values and perspectives into services where appropriate This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Master's degree from an accredited school psychology program and successful completion of all assigned practicum and internship requirements * Valid Washington State ESA certification in School Psychology * Valid Washington State driver's License and access to personal transportation PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Two or more years of experience as a School Psychologist in a K-12 setting * Experience implementing MTSS frameworks, including academic and behavioral interventions * Training and/or experience in culturally responsive assessment and service delivery * Experience working with Native American students or other historically underserved populations * Experience with trauma-informed practices and student mental health supports * Strong background in behavioral intervention planning (FBA/BIP) * Bilingual or multilingual skills (preferred but not required) * Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Successful criminal background clearance Successful and/or clear drug screening KNOWLEDGE OF: * Principles and practices of school psychology, including assessment, consultation, and intervention * Federal and state laws and regulations related to special education (IDEA, Section 504, WAC 392-172A) * Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and data-based decision-making practices * Child and adolescent development, including social-emotional and behavioral health * Evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions * Crisis prevention and intervention strategies * Culturally responsive and equitable assessment practices * Community mental health resources and systems of care * School policies, procedures, and compliance requirements ABILITY TO: * Conduct comprehensive and legally defensible evaluations using multiple assessment tools and data sources * Analyze and synthesize complex data to inform educational decision-making * Communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences, including students, families, and staff * Collaborate effectively as part of multidisciplinary teams * Provide consultation that supports effective instructional, behavioral, and mental health practices * Manage multiple priorities while maintaining compliance with strict timelines and legal requirements * Build trusting relationships with students, families, and community partners * Apply culturally responsive practices in assessment, consultation, and intervention * Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards * Respond effectively to crisis situations and support student safety and well-being * Organize and maintain accurate records and documentation * Travel between sites and work a flexible schedule as needed REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Director of Special Services or designee PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
