The chosen candidates must be able to assist the Lead Teachers with the following responsibilities:Understand, proactively respond and manage behavior [knowledgeable in behavior management and conscious discipline preferred]Understand, plan and assist in the development of appropriate activities to further the learning both in the classroom and on the playgroundUnderstand the value of play in a nurturing environmentMaintain a positive attitude within the classroom and with your teammatesAbility to work within a large team oriented children's programAbility to multitask during fast paced end of day, to include customer service to parentsAbility to plan, develop alternative strategies to resolve problems, skills to support staff and families to make decisions regarding the children's health and safetyUnderstands and follows Virginia Department of Education licensing requirements.RequirementsTo succeed in this position you will need the following:High school diploma preferred2+ years of experience in an early childhood environmentKnowledge of developmental milestones and age appropriate practicesEffective classroom-management techniquesEffective leadership and team building skillsHigh-level of verbal and written communication skillsCPR, First Aid, MAT certification or willingness to obtain
