Position Summary: The Department of Behavioral Sciences and Criminal Justice at Minot State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of addiction studies and psychology to begin August 2026. Our addiction studies program provides education for students to become licensed addiction counselors in North Dakota. The faculty filling this position will teach courses required for our addiction studies and psychology programs, such as Dynamics of Addiction, Behavioral Neuroscience, and Psychopharmacology. There is some flexibility in the courses the person will teach, depending on their area of expertise. The position offers the ability to teach and do research within multidisciplinary programs (psychology, addiction studies, criminal justice, and social work). The teaching load for this position is 12 credits per semester. The faculty member will participate in curriculum development and program evaluation. In addition to teaching face-to-face and virtual/online formats, faculty members advise students, provide service to the department, university, and community, and produce scholarship. Minimum Qualifications: The position is tenure track with a nine-month contract. The ideal candidate will have earned a Ph.D. in psychology, addiction studies, or related field. ABD candidates will be considered. Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given for candidates with expertise in areas related to addiction, have demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate courses, and commitment to mentoring undergraduate research.
