Position Type: Paraprofessional/InstructionalDate Posted: 4/7/2026Location: Nashville Elementary SchoolDyslexia Paraprofessional - Job DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Dyslexia Paraprofessional supports students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties by providing targeted instructional assistance under the direction of a certified teacher or dyslexia specialist. This role focuses on reinforcing structured literacy interventions and helping students build reading, writing, and spelling skills.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in delivering structured literacy interventions (such as phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension activities).Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce reading and writing skills.Support lesson preparation, including organizing materials and resources.Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of performance and participation.Provide feedback to teachers regarding student progress and needs.Help maintain a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.Assist with classroom management and student behavior support as needed.Support accommodations outlined in IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) or 504 Plans.Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and staff to ensure consistency in instruction.Skills & CompetenciesUnderstanding of phonological awareness, phonics, and reading development.Ability to follow instructional plans with fidelity.Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.Empathy, patience, and adaptability.Team-oriented mindset.Work EnvironmentSchool-based setting (elementary, middle, or high school).May involve working one-on-one or in small group settings.Requires frequent interaction with students, teachers, and support staff.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, and move around the classroom for extended periods.May assist students with classroom tasks and transitions.Qualifications Profile- Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:- High School diploma.- Associate's Degree or passing grade on the Paraprofessional Exam
