Job Description

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. This position is organizationally located at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the Mental Health (MH) Outpatient Program. Duties of the Staff Psychologist include but are not limited to: CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES * Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and uses the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care. * Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions, including individual and as appropriate; use of evidence-based interventions; psychoeducation, case/care management, and referrals as appropriate. * Consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. ENRICHING ELEMENTS * Academic/Teaching/Training * Provides clinical supervision to various disciplines and levels of training. * May be involved in the Psychology Training Program and Training Committee. * Assists in the training of medical students, medical and psychiatric residents, nursing students, fellows and other graduate or post-graduate trainees, as appropriate. * Serves as a consultant to other clinic staff and trainees and assists in their formulation of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment expectations regarding their patients, as appropriate. RESEARCH/PROGRAM EVALUATION * Establishes and implements program monitors and outcome measures using data-driven quality assurance processes. * Is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center or healthcare system, as appropriate. * Involved in research, as appropriate. * Presents outcome data and research results at VA and regional or national scientific or professional meetings. OTHER SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITIES * Serves on Medical Center or Healthcare System committees or task forces as discussed with Program Manager. * Actively participates in local, state and national professional organizations. * Represents the Medical Center or Healthcare System at professional/program community group/events and committees. * Performs other duties as assigned.
