Salary/Hourly Rate: $75k - $100k Annually Position Overview: The EHS Specialist evaluates and enhances workplace conditions to minimize risks from chemical, physical, and biological hazards. This role involves developing safety programs, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations. Responsibilities of the EHS Specialist: * The EHS Specialist will assess work environments to identify and mitigate potential hazards. * Design and implement hygiene and safety programs, including noise and air quality monitoring. * Conduct accident investigations to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures. * Perform regular inspections to verify adherence to safety standards and legal requirements. * Advise teams and management on health and safety issues. * Maintain accurate records and documentation of safety activities. * Order suspension of unsafe activities when necessary. * Develop and deliver employee health and safety training. Required Experience/Skills for the EHS Specialist: * The EHS Specialist should have strong reading comprehension for technical documents. * 5 - 8+ years of EHS experience is required. * Effective verbal and written communication. * Complex problem-solving abilities. * Several years of relevant work experience in occupational health and safety. * Experience with compliance and safety software (e.g., ESS Compliance Suite, OSHALOG 300). * Familiarity with database, email, presentation, and spreadsheet tools (e.g., Microsoft Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel). Preferred Experience/Skills for the EHS Specialist: * Experience coordinating, supervising, or managing safety programs. * Exposure to accident investigation and workplace inspections. * Ability to analyze data and develop actionable insights. * Intellectual curiosity and attention to detail. * 1 - 3 years of leadership experience is preferred. Education Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, etc.) or equivalent work experience. * Additional certifications or training in occupational health and safety are advantageous.
